„Hörst du, wie die Eiche rauscht?“, sprach die Amsel. „Hört ihr die Eiche rauschen?“, fragte die Hasenmutter ihre Jungen, die aufmerksam die Löffel spitzten. „Wo die Eiche rauscht, da ist unsere Heimat.“ Und sie hoppelten alle drei nah an den Baum heran und ließen die langen Ohren spielen. „Was rauscht die Eiche in ihren Bart?“, fragte die Häsin. „Rauschebart singt das Lied unserer Heimat!“, antwortete einer der wolligen Maihasen. „Richtig!“, nickte die Häsin und gab ihrem klugen Kind einen zärtlichen Klaps. Die Amsel aber sprach: „Hast du gehört: Rauschebart! Das ist ein passender Name für die Eiche. Wir wollen ihn uns gut merken!“ Und ihr Mann nickte dreimal mit dem Kopf.
