Was a great story, very descriptive and gave me more of an insight into WW2. How the women coped and how awful the evacuation of the children was. Very sad to come to the end,but will definately not miss the liverpudlian accent. It grated on my nerves at times, too strong.

Gripping

Gives you an insight as to how difficult life was for everyone during World War Two. It takes you there in the moment, eat, breathing & sleeping the peoples anguish, fears & tears of the unpredictable lurking doom! The urgency to love & be loved, the loss & separation of families. The peoples commitment to life to surviving.
Its a brilliant book by a brilliant Maureen Lee,
Thank you I love reading your books.

Great book with multigenerational characters starting from the beginning of WW2 and covering 40 turbulent years there after.

Interesting, relatable and well rounded characters, with some difficult subjects covered sensitively through the book.

The Scouse accent for a couple of characters as mentioned by other reviewers is a bit phlegmy, however the whole book is so much better than this small inconvenience.

Just delightful and I highly recommend.
Hope there is a sequel to this
