For me to really enjoy a book I have to like the main character.
In the previous books I've found Jack difficult, but I've not disliked him. I did in this book.
His aggression and know it all attitude weren't a good mix and the disfunction of his family life was off putting, in fact social services might need a call.
The case the team are working on is interesting and I feel Jacks issues took away from the plot.
Also the other case Jack is working on lost its lustre because of the same issues.
Both could be so much more and should have been what dominated the book.

The main story is gripping and one cannot stop listening, but the second strand does not really work. A satisfying last sentence, but things in this complex case got tied up rather too quickly. However, I hope Jack has another case to solve…….he’s good at it!

Jack is becoming less charming

Could not stop listening great story line. The narrator was excellent. Looking forward to the next novel and please use the same narrator.

Brilliant story and narrator. As well as having a crime scene we also delved into family life of the other detectives and Jack the main character. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
