Fascinating!

What a fascinating tale. I was thoroughly engrossed, the two and a half hours flew by without notice. Laura Greenwood is an incredibly talented author with an extraordinary imagination. I love the premise of the storyline, it's refreshing, based on Egyptian mythology, making it quite intriguing.

Stellar narration by Sabrina Sterling, capturing the nuances of characters, bringing them to life. Overall this was a fantastic listen, and very enjoyable, one I highly recommend.

This was a great book! I really enjoyed this short story. It was short but you wouldn't know it. I loved it and I look forward to reading more of this series. This book can be read as a standalone but you will want to read more.

Happy to of come across this book

I received a free audio copy of this book directly from the author for an honest review.

I love how the Egyptian mythology has been woven into this story as a very different variation of Gods for me. Normally you come across Greek or Norse Gods so this for me was intriguing and thought provoking. It was just long enough to really build a good liking for the characters and not so long that the plot dragged out. There’s plenty of mystery, adventure and a bit of romance. I’m definitely happy to have come across this short find!

Zodiac shifters

This was an interesting story. It's based on Egyptian mythology which is a new thing for me. I liked the characters but hated that the story was so short. It had decent action and romance. Loved the narrator and her accent.

Short but fully formed with great narration

I enjoyed the way that Sabrina Sterling narrated this story, the various accents she used worked well.

This story is relatively short but feels perfectly formed. I enjoyed the mix of modern day and the ancient gods of Egypt. It kept me interested all the way to the end and I could have happily spent longer with the characters.

Great take on Egyptian fantasy!

Protectors Of Poison: Scorpio by Laura Greenwood is the 1st in the Forgotten Gods series.
Immortal, almost forgotten about and working as a veterinary assistant, Sera has very little of her God powers remaining. When Sed shows up asking for her help, she doesnt believe that there is anything she can do.
A quick read, but I really enjoyed this Egyptian fantasy romance!

Healing the Heart

Protectors of Poison is centered around Sera is a vet nurse who heals the animals around her while no one is looking. As we are led into the story, turns out that Sera is the almost forgotten Goddess named Serket, the Scorpion Goddess. She is called upon by Sed to heal Osiris who has been poisoned with the venom from one of her scorpions. As she and Sed go back to Egypt to see about healing not only Osiris, but also Sera, who has to become the Goddess that she had happily left behind. But it turns out that her past is coming back to haunt her and nothing is as it seems.

I love the world and personalities that Laura Greenwood has created in this story! She has given us another beautiful and powerful world that I feel like I am a part of as soon as I start listening/reading. Sabrina Sterling is a fabulous narrator, I have never heard any audiobooks by her, but she is amazing!

I would recommend this book to anyone!

Good, wanted more

Serket has been forgotten. Sera remains. She has little magic left after all these years but what she has, she still uses to heal. When a minor god tracks her down to help heal a major god and to defend her scorpions, she returns to her homeland. There she discovers she is in more danger than she realized.

Good, not great. I love Egyptian mythology and the characters were good but the story was too short. It would have benefitted from being extended. More time with Sera and Sed (buildup and after), more time with the 'villain". The villain, especially. More character history, more motive detailing. All in all, for a novella, good.

I loved Sabrina Sterling's narration. Her voice is delightful. Very fitting for Sera.

Nice take on Egyptian gods in present time

first of all, the narrator is awesome. I loved her accents for everyone and it makes it easy to tell who is who.

The story is also sweet. it's a quick read, but that doesn't make it bad. There is enough plot and action to keep the story moving but the characters don't get lost in the speed of the plot.

Interesting Egyptian Mythology

I throughly enjoyed listening to this short but outstanding audiobook. The story is well developed and the characters engaging and likable. It is amazing how much detail is included in such a brief tale. The author did an excellent job and the story moved at a perfect pace and did not feel rushed at all.

Narration was good and brought the story to life.

I was able to listen to this story at one sitting and really enjoyed learning a bit about Egyptian Mythology. Most books I have read seem to dive into Greek mythology instead. It was a fun and welcome change to what I’m used to listening.

An interesting Egyptian tale

Sera, aka Serket, is doing her best to live the best that she can in the modern world. She moves every so often to not raise suspicion since she is immortal. She has little powers left, but she does what she can to help small animals. A god in the form of an animal finds her & asks her to save the life of another god that has been poisoned. A trip back home has her realizing that someone is set out to erase her completely.
