Summary

Guarding witnesses? All in a day's work for deputy US marshal Carly Masterson. Protecting the judge who was indirectly responsible for her mentor's death? That's another story.

Still, she won't let harm come to Judge Nicholas Floyd, or the niece and nephew in his care. She's determined to do the job right, and not let her emotions take over - no matter how wonderful it feels to be accepted by the little family.

Can she let go of the past and learn to trust again before danger finds them once more?

Appalling robotic narration

I love Lynette Eason's books but several times stopped listening for some time. I could not understand how this narrator was allowed to perform this book. She sounds like a child first learning to read with many jerky and unemotional sentences. If the rest of Lynette's books are read by her then I shall not buy them. .

Loved it

I loved this book, but Andrea Emmes almost made me stop listening to it. Her voice for me was just not right . However the plot and characters were wonderful and I loved all the aco.

great Christian book

Mrs. Eason has written another WINNER. this is a clean mystery book...a bit of romance as marshalls try to keep the judge safe. Check to see if they are able to keep him and his family safe...from folks trying to kill them...you will have to listen to find out for yourself. I highly recommend this book!!!

Good story, HORRIBLE NARRATION

This narrator's reading style is horrible! Very mechanical. I actually stopped listening, and almost returned the book. If you can get through her voice, it's a decent story.

Unable to finish

I could not get past the first chapter it was so poorly read (based my story 5 stars on what I know of Easton’s other stories). The auditor voice of characters and inflections did not match the story content. I had a really hard time listening to her voice. Sorry but not my opinion her voice is to highly pitched for this type of work. Waste of my money.

the book had a good storyline however the narrator sounded animated. it was awful as if I turned on the reading option on my kindle. No expression on the tone

I should have read the reviews ...

I truly appreciate Lynette Eason's suspenseful stories, with a clean romance thrown in. This was no exception, although somewhat predictable. The narration left a great deal to be desired. Had I read the reviews first, I would have purchased the book in another format.

Clean; suspenseful; predictable

I am always pleased to find fiction that is my sexually explicit, overly preachy, with a tad bit of romance and a little action to keep my attention.

I have to say some of the writing was a little cheesy to me, however. It wasn’t hard to figure out who the traitor was, early on in the story.

I do appreciate the author’s creativity in a number of the scenarios.

To be transparent, I would most likely not give this book a high recommendation.

Excellent Book & Writer

Excellent book. However, the narration seemed a little stilted or clipped. The different voices were fine but words didn't flow smoothly. It still was a great book & I enjoyed it very much.

Good

I enjoyed it. I like a little mystery. It kept me awake driving down the road but pretty predictable.
