Summary
Le premier livre de Samuel est un livre de grands commencements à la fin tragique. Il commence avec le grand-prêtre Eli, durant la période des juges. En tant que chef religieux, celui-ci a dû entretenir, au début, une relation étroite avec Dieu. Sa conversation avec Anne et la formation qu'il donne à Samuel montrent qu'il a une vision claire du plan et de l'appel de Dieu (ch. 1; 3). Pourtant, quelle fin de vie humiliante ! Ses fils sacrilèges sont jugés par Dieu et l'arche de l'alliance tombe entre les mains de l'ennemi (ch. 4). Sa mort marque le déclin de l'influence des prêtres et la montée du ministère prophétique en Israël.
