Die Oper "Parsifal" ist das letzte Werk des deutschen Komponist Richard Wagner (1813-1883). Die Handlung basiert auf dem Versroman "Parzifal" des mittelhochdeutschen Dichters Wolfram von Eschenbach.

Der Gralsburgritter Gurnemanz trifft den verletzten König Amfortas. Der Zauberer Klingsor schlug ihm eine nichtheilende Wunde, die nur ein junger Erlöser heilen könne. Verzweifelt beschwören die Ritter den Heiligen Gral und suchen nach ihm. Der junge Fremde irrt derweil durch Klingsors Reich und begegnet der geheimnisvollen Kundry, die seinen richtigen Namen kennt: Parsifal. Als Kundry Parsifal küsst, spürt dieser Amfortas' Wunde und begreift seine Mission. Doch es vergehen noch Jahre, bis Parsifal zur Gralsburg findet.
