About this listen

Is your daughter struggling with an eating disorder? How can you be sure? Do you remember the last time she ate a meal and didn't seem unhappy or preoccupied? How long is she in the restroom after dinner? Can you be sure she's alright? I can help you.

This audiobook is dedicated to helping parents understand an eating disorder called bulimia nervosa. I am writing based on my experience with the disease. The personal accounts within this audiobook can aid in identifying and overcoming this disorder. Too many parents go through the motions of work, home, small talk and repeat with their daughters. This resource can help you to identify the patterns and pitfalls of bulimia in your daughter.

Twenty years ago, I was caught in the grips of bulimia nervosa. I will relate to you the ways I beat this eating disorder, and how you can help your daughter do the same.

It is important to understand that this disease is not attention seeking, but instead a reaction to overattentive environments. If you listen to this audiobook, you will find tips and guides to understand your daughter's struggle.

Can you honestly say your daughter looks happy? Just generally. Are you noticing her eating habits too much or too little? Do you discuss or interact with her at the dinner table? There is a clear difference. I can show you the way forward.

Within Parents Guide: Inner Anchor, you will discover:

  • Ways to understand eating disorders.
  • Open communication with your daughter about your concerns.
  • How to get your daughter back from the grips of bulimia.

When struggling with bulimia, food can feel like a heavy anchor inside oneself. You have an opportunity to understand your daughter and help alter her perception, without harming herself in the process. Take it. Get back in the game. So if you want to benefit, you need this audiobook today!

The author’s personal narrative is enlightening that it helped me understand what it is like being a person having an eating disorder, what they feel, what they think and what makes them vulnerable.  Moreover, the tone is compassionate and respectful to both parents and their daughters.

The audiobook provides a profound understanding of the nature of the problem and helps you identify how your child's condition is likely to be dealt with by professional intervention and how you should support her. A part that I found clever was the do's and don'ts and the real-life examples of how to tackle sensitive subjects around bulimia with our child and other family members that may be unintentionally exacerbating the problem. This audiobook offers a lot more than you might expect. I believe that teachers, counsellors, or coaches who deal with teens on a daily basis may also find this audiobook extremely useful. You must get this!

The book is a very well-coordinated documentary of the definition, effects, causes, signs and diagnosis, and treatment of bulimia nervosa, a mental ailment that has been overlooked for a long time. The emotional, psychological and physical impact is painstakingly discussed and the expected roles of the family are clearly defined. The book could not have been better put together considering the impact it made on me. As parents and adults, we should be available to give attention to the "dos" and 'don'ts' of our child'; seek medical and non-medical assistance; create an inclusive environment for her; take advantage of group therapies, monitor triggers, and help to give clarity and prevent misinformation. I will recommend this book to all parents because they all have a role to play. Being diagnosed with bulimia can be isolatory.

Very Informative and Instructive.

This book was very informative. The author did a great job in discussing bulimia nervosa in depth from a very personal place. It helps parents and teenagers struggling with this better understand what is going on in the teenager's mind and body. I especially liked how the author was extremely compassionate and candid with sharing her story and her daughters.

Highly recommend.

Like most older people I blame a lot of the problems with the children I teach especially psychologically on social media. My teenage students constantly comparing themselves to what amounts as a fantasy. I have a few girl students who suffer from low self esteem and one that has bulimia but it is a little hush hush. I used this book to get a better understanding as a male teacher it's hard for me to understand what teenage girls go through. This has certainly informed my approach to teaching.
