About this listen

Is your daughter struggling with an eating disorder? How can you be sure? Do you remember the last time she ate a meal rather than moving food around the plate? How often does she finish a meal in its entirety? Can you be sure she's alright? I can help you.

This book is dedicated to helping parents understand an eating disorder called Anorexia Nervosa. I am writing based on my experience with the disease. Too many parents go through the motions of work, home, small talk and repeat with their daughters. This book can help identify the patterns and pitfalls of anorexia in your daughter.

Twenty years ago, I was caught in the grips of Anorexia Nervosa. The disorder made me feel as though I was cutting myself on the inside. I stood at 5 foot 2 inches, weighed 92 pounds, and wore a size zero in jeans. I will relate to you the ways I beat this eating disorder and how you can help your daughter do the same.

It is important to understand, this disease is not attention seeking, but instead a reaction to overattentive environments. If you listen through this book, you will find tips and guides to understand your daughter's struggle. This guide serves to help navigate the tightrope of a highly delicate topic with your daughter.

Today we find ourselves interacting more through mass media and phone applications than on an individual level. It would be nice to be able to sit down and have a sincere talk about our feelings, relationships, and stressors. Instead, daily, most girls in your daughter's immediate circle are fighting for "likes" and approval of their surrounding groups.

Can you honestly say your daughter looks happy? Just generally. Are you noticing her eating habits too much or too little? Do you discuss her or interact with her at the dinner table? There is a clear difference. I can show you the way forward.

I have 2 teen girls and I am always looking out for any signs or symptoms! I loved this book as it has so much information and guidance for parents. Feeling guilty for one reason or another is part and parcel of being a parent but an eating disorder could make us feel completely helpless. It is only natural that we as parents want to help and be there for our children, to help our children overcome these challenges.
The author has provided lots of information, and guidance you might need. The book is crammed full of helpful tips and tricks, they are especially helpful as the advice is coming from someone who has been through this personally.

This is a great guide that not only explains the technological aspect of issues pertaining to eating disorders but also provides valued guidance on how to address people going through things like this. This definitely would have been helpful in grade school when I encountered so many friends going through something like this. I am grateful that I come across this information in order to help others in the future.

As parents it is our responsibility to care for our children's physical and mental health, to stay vigilant, to guide them, observe and openly communicate with them about how they are feeling. In today's society the pressure to conform to a specific shape and body size is as high as it's ever been, specially for girls. They are constantly bombarded by social media messages that are less than realistic. In this wonderful guide Shannon Michelle shows parents ways to better understand and spot eating disorders, tips to openly communicate with your daughter and implementing new family routines that will support your daughter in recovering from anorexia nervosa. Fantastic resource.
