The romance with Alec is sweet without being overbearing, and the masked stranger trope gives a fun start. The plot also does well at balancing light moments (friends, flirting, the road’s adventure) with heavier ones (family secrets, longing, the sister running away). The pacing is generally good: the story unfolds in a way that keeps you curious (especially about Rose and the letters).
