The book made me understand that ODD should be addressed quickly before it takes root, as it can lead to communication difficulties in adulthood. I agree that a psychologist is the best option for support. I loved how deeply the author explained the role of the central cortex, which is responsible for emotions triggered by the medulla, and how this affects a child’s ability to communicate effectively. Seeing ODD as a neurological issue makes it easier to approach with understanding and proper strategies.
The chapter on communicating with children who suffer from ODD was my favorite. I previously listened to a book about CBT, and I noticed that many of those techniques were also mentioned here for managing and improving these situations. I’m happy I found this helpful guide before becoming a parent, as it has truly trained me for the future.
Love it!
