Loved every second

I love the brutal honesty of this book, as a current care assistant and student nurse at the half way point in my training I was looking for something to uplift my spirits and keep me going. This book did that. I will be telling all of my nurse and student nurse friends to read or listen to this because it had me crying at parts with empathy and also side splitting laughter. One day when I’ve been qualified for a while I will definitely revisit this book and love it all over again!

Great book... Laughs and insightful feedback about the world of the RN

This is a great book! Very informative, entertaining, and insightful. Sonja does a great job with the narration, too. In January 2019, I started course work toward a BSN degree to completely switch careers from financial services IT (after 22+ years) to nursing. Hearing Sonja’s viewpoints and personal experiences didn't scare me off of the daunting task of pursuing my BSN. Rather, it has given me more confidence in this crazy path I'm on. Although I'm not a ”baby nurse” yet, I hope I get to work with a nurse like Sonja when I finish my BSN (in 2022), pass my NCLEX-RN, and finally begin my ”Career 2.0” as a nurse in a few years.

Definitely the book to give any new nurse!

Also to give to nurse friends of all ages and stages of career. There are whole sections I would love to have a various places like the wall art you see everywhere about life, love, happiness, teaching, caring and reality. I want to give it as a gift to all of my healthcare assoc friends, family and colleagues!

less than expected

I was hoping to hear Real Raw to the bone advice on situations where a nurse said "Oh shit I almost killed you " but survived - in order for me to learn from their experiences. This narrative instead had in my opinion A generalized sugar coated advise and alot of Kumbaya advice.

Spot On

Loved it. Listened in one sitting bc I couldn't push stop to go to bed. But, I'm a noc nurse, so that's pretty normal to stay up well past 3am anyway. Smiles almost the whole way through. Except when crying, because I've either been there or know my time for it is coming. You hit on every point. Why I became a nurse. Why I'm proud to be a nurse. All my non nurse friends and family members who give "that look" where in the middle of your story you realize you just ruined one of the 3 meals you get to eat with them that month, so you stop talking (and it sucks bc you haven't even gotten to the gross/funny part yet). All of it. I am finding this book during week 3 of the quarantine and I am the only family member who has left my house in almost a month. I was starting to feel guilty that I "get" to leave the house. But I really appreciate that you are reminding me of the gratitude I feel that I GET to be a nurse, period. Thank you for writing this book and sharing your feelings. You are not alone.

New nurse book

Thanks Ms. Sonya, for a great baby nurse book. I wished there were more clinical cases though.

Breath of fresh air

As a new nurse about to start my very first nursing job in a PCU unit, this book was just what I needed to hear. It reminded me why I love nursing, what to expect and what I will encounter, be it good or bad. It was very raw and very real. Loved it <3

Title Deceives

There aren't any real stories that fit the title. I expected much more. Sonja should keep to nursing.

Nursing Students need this!

This was like having a nurse mom tell you how it will be. So much more enjoyable than listening to older nurses who are burned out.
