Summary

Quinn

I thought pulling my pack away from Winsford would save us. I never realized how wrong I could be.

After Rowan and I escape Mercer’s hold, we have to get the pack somewhere safe, but my only option is a pride run by a controlling alpha. With everyone safely inside the walls of Winterhaven, Rowan and I attempt to search for the truth, but we’re being hunted and driven further from the answers we need. I want to do everything to protect my mate, but as I learn more about his past, I realize that I might need to protect him from more than just Mercer.

Rowan

I never thought I could embrace this other side of me, especially when I’ve always been taught to hate it.

But Quinn makes me feel alive and happier than I ever thought I’d be after shutting away a part of myself for years. When he’s with me, I feel like we can accomplish anything, and figuring out why Mercer is targeting us is only the first step. However, we could lose everything if we make a single mistake. One thing I know about my mate, though, is that he’s the most determined man I’ve ever met. And I’ll be right by his side as we bring Mercer crashing to the ground.

Of Betrayal and Monsters is an action-filled romance with a dash of comedy. It’s the second book in a series with a continuing storyline and an HFN.

Fantastic narration

I think I will always hear Ari's voice the way the narrator does it. Absolutely nailed the sassy way he behaves

The best thing about this is the cover art

While I've enjoyed many of Alice Winter's audios this series is not the best...maybe she's taking advantage of her success and pumping out new books. But the quality of this is well below what I expected.

This story is nonsense, poorly written, poorly edited, strange sentence structures and word choices - as if it was speed written.

I'm tired of the same old cliches and formulas... the stereotype sassy character, the serious character, the angsty events that pull the mcs apart of bring them closer. I got bored very quickly I've heard it all before. The great narrator is the only reason I kept listening.

Amazing!!

Alice Winters is amazing!

I’m really loving this series and can’t wait to hear the next instalment!

The storyline flows with ease from book to book and love how the characters grow and the diversity of the pack.

I love Emory in this book particularly, his snarkiness, sarcy comebacks and all round character - he’s just so endearing 🥰

Definitely worth 5🌟’s and highly recommend if you love Alice Winters work 😁

Can't believe it's an alice winters' story.

Not even close to being as good as other books of that author. The story is written as if no one reviewed it before publishing...

....

i normally like Alice winters. the first book had promise bit this one yikes. Quinn spends way touch time missing obvious things or "trying to keep everyone safe" that he is constantly putting everyone in danger and his best friend isn't cute or funny he's a creep. seriously who sexually harasses your best friend to annoy the boyfriend of said best friend?

why bother

I tried again. Don't really know why I bother, the stories continue to be trite.
I liked the first couple of series on audible, but lately they could just as well not have been. There are no substance. No depth nor any surprises. It is bland like an US TVseries.
The sad thing is I used to like this author, a sure buy. Now I won't bother anymore.

A

What a great performance by the narrator of a great book. This isn't a book you read for the typical alpha story. This book is strong in its dialog and connections with the characters. While you can guess some of the mystery, there is still a lot to discover and it's both fun and suspenseful following the characters as they figure things out. There are developments that I can't wait to see play out in the future. I don't think the next book is out yet but I pray I'm wrong.

Floof x 2

Quinn is in the process of taking his pack to another location to keep them safe. It is with the pride that he and Graham left years before. This pride is run by an alpha named Apollo and he is a total douche. He is the worst kind of alpha. He is a dictator and no one in his pride cares for him. Quinn tells his pack that they have to abide by the rules until they leave. After arriving he and Rowan get permission to visit Rowan's father so they can learn more about the pills he has been taking for years. We are given a glimpse of what his life was like as a child and it wasn't pretty. They didn't get much information from his father.
I was really drawn to their detective work. Watching them go around the city trying to figure out who Mercer really is and why he is so obsessed with them was great. Watching Quinn try to follow Apollo rules without looking weak in front of his pack, was a sight to see. Seeing the new dynamics play out with Emery being added to group was hilarious! Even though we are dealing with more and more drama and suspense, Alice still has time for humor. And it is very much appreciated. Without the humor sprinkled in, this book would be too heavy and dark and I don't think that would be good.

enjoyed it

Would I listen to it again: yes
Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Was I invested in the characters: yes

📖 Story comment: Good pace, interesting plot with fun and likeable characters.
Story is moving along at a reasonable pace from Book 1, it's a little darker than the first but still contains the usual heart and humor I've come to expect from this Author. I was entertained - it's all I need to be happy!

🎧 Narrator comment: Greg Boudreaux has done a masterful performance bringing the characters and story to life. He has good timing, rhythm, inflections and intonations and it's easy to distinguish the characters from each other.
A thoroughly enjoyable performance from a narrator at the top of his game.

Can't put the series down but heavier than usual

**Audiobook Review**

While there is some snark in this series it is a lot more serious and suspenseful than her other series. From what was happening to the shifters, some of whom were taken as children, to what happened to Rowan and his brother in his early years and what their father was still doing and all the death, this one was harder to get through. It is still entertaining but heavier.

Greg Bordeaux does a fantastic job as always…with every single voice and there are many.

I need more Quinn and Rowan in my life.

More books with these two please, I'm addicted. The dynamic is great, the narration is on point. I don't want to finish the series because I don't want it to end.
