Summary

Sephy is a Cross – a member of the dark-skinned ruling class. Callum is a nought – a ‘colourless’ member of the underclass who were once slaves to the Crosses. The two have been friends since early childhood. But that’s as far as it can go. Until the first steps are taken towards more social equality and a limited number of Noughts are allowed into Cross schools… Against a background of prejudice and distrust, intensely highlighted by violent terrorist activity by Noughts, a romance builds between Sephy and Callum – a romance that is to lead both of them into terrible danger…

Fantastic Book, well written very interesting with many twists.

Tone, and boring speaking voices. Really not a fan.

Really good! The narrators were so so good! It made listening very enjoyable. I would live to hear these two again.

great story- not so great voiceovers

excellent storyline, however the voiceovers unfortunately spoiled it for me. They sounded as though they were reading rather than story telling and their performance is over exaggerated. lovely story though- should have bought the book!

Powerful, brilliant, touching

A superbly constructed insight into some of the worst aspects of human nature. Touching, poignant and hard-hitting all at the same time. Highly recommended for teens and adults. The sort of book that should help change the world.

emotional and thought provocing

Will white people understand racism after this? I do hope so. Deep, powerful, relatable.

Powerfully Dystopian

Powerfully Dystopian; dealing with modern day complexities. An uncomfortable must read. Looking forward to reading the rest in the series!

love without boundaries

fantastic writing, pulls you in the the characters. love in a divided world its breathtaking and brilliant. I red it as a teen and still revisit it now as an adult. Hope for a equality in a world that still judges on appearance.
