Publisher's Summary

Born in a prison and removed from his drug-dependent mother, rejection is all that 7-year-old Alex knows.

When Cathy is asked to foster little Alex, aged seven, her immediate reaction is: Why can't he stay with his present carers for the last month? He's already had many moves since coming into care as a toddler and he'll only be with her a short while before he goes to live with his permanent adoptive family. But the present carers are expecting a baby and the foster mother isn't coping, so Alex goes to live with Cathy.

He settles easily and is very much looking forward to having a forever family of his own. The introductions and move to his adoptive family go well. But Alex is only with them for a week when problems begin. What happens next is both shocking and upsetting, and calls into question the whole adoption process.

    "Bought by mistake"

I bought this by mistake - I didn't realise the 'genre' and kept waiting for the story to get going. Overall I would never have bought s book like this but I listened to it and it confirmed exactly what I had suspected books of this genre are like. I found it a patronising description of how the author is a perfect person and highly patronising. Sorry - just not my thing!

    "Wow..."

This is one of the most gripping stories I have heard yet. I knew immediately that there was something wrong during the first "introduction" My heart ached for Alex and my heart lifted by the end. Good job Cathy!

"another fantastic book by this author."
Would you consider the audio edition of Nobody's Son to be better than the print version?

I am visually impaired so i rely on the audio copy so this is not aplicable to me.

What other book might you compare Nobody's Son to, and why?

would compare this book to will you love me as the story mainly focused on adoption and what can go wrong if a child is given negative experiences.

What does Denica Fairman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

She reads with emotion and manages to create identaties for all the characters seperately so you know who is speaking and get a feel for the character.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    yes.

    Any additional comments?

fantastic as usual, i always look forward to this authors books.

    "Another excellent read"

This is another wonderful book about a little boy who so desperately wants a family to call his own. I experienced the same emotions of anger frustration and sadness along with Cathy and little Alex as they struggled to come to terms with the failure of that first adoption... As the reader looking in, it seemed obvious to me that it wouldn't work. Rosemary and Edward were too formal in their manner. They just couldn't relate to a child like Alex. I cheered for everyone when the second placement worked out so well. Alex had a long hard road ahead of him, and I'm glad things worked out so well for all of them.

Cathy Glass tells this story in the same engrossing style she does all her others. I was hooked from the first page and once again felt like I knew her and her family a little more.

    "Cathy Glass - MY HERO"
What made the experience of listening to Nobody's Son the most enjoyable?

Cathy Glass is the epitome of what a foster mother should be. She cares about her foster children and their future lives. She helps them deal with their past.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Nobody's Son?

When Cathy talked to the foster parents at the MDT meeting after the child was returned to her home.

What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?

Cathy Glass is the epitome of what a foster mother should be.

    Any additional comments?

I'm going to get more of her books. She is a good writer, and a great foster mother.
