About this listen

Playwright, actor, singer, songwriter, poet, and scriptwriter, Sir Noël Coward used his "talent to amuse" to spectacular effect for almost 60 years.

Sir Laurence Olivier, Lord Mountbatten, and Joyce Carey are just some of the voices heard paying tribute to the elegant star in this audio biography, which is linked by the broadcaster and critic Sheridan Morley.

Extracts from interviews with Coward himself, several of his songs and moments from his plays come together to form a fascinating picture of one of the 20th century's theatre greats.

I feel a bit mean giving a low marking because I absolutely loved the interviews with Noel Coward and his performances. The interviews with people who had met and performed both for him and with him were really interesting. I just felt that there was so much glossed over and missing. Plus there just wasn't enough Noel Coward.

Not enough

I absloutely adored this book! So much so, I listened to it twice! The language used is rich and poetic, epitomising everything quentessential about being British. Wonderful interviews from major stars of Hollywood when stars were great. The music provides an atmospheric, nostalgic journey. I thoroughly reccomend this book!

Witty Wonderful Noel!
