About this listen
Undercover ops are always dangerous, but DC Constance Fairchild never expected things to go this wrong.
Returning to their base of operations, an anonymous office in a shabby neighbourhood, she finds the bloodied body of her boss, and friend, DI Pete Copperthwaite. He's been executed - a single shot to the head.
In the aftermath, it seems someone in the Met is determined to make sure that blame for the wrecked operation falls squarely on Con's shoulders. She is cut loose and cast out, angry and alone with her grief... right until the moment someone also tries to put a bullet through her head.
There's no place to hide, and no time to cry.
This audiobook contains an exclusive introduction to Constance Fairchild from James Oswald.

great start to a new series!

Part of the attraction of the first series was the wonderful narration by Ian Hanmore. This book is set mainly in England and a very different narrator was required. I think Rose Akroyd did very well, by the second or third chapter I was totally immersed in the book and entirely comfortable with her narration. I think she was a good choice, she suits the main character and she deals effortlessly with a wide range of characters and accents.
Overall this was an excellent start to the new series and I hope we do not have to wait too long for the next book from James Oswald.
