The devastating true story of one woman's search for her husband and son aboard the lost Titan sub. Written and read by Christine Dawood, widow and mother of two Titan submersible victims, Ninety-Six Hours is a deeply personal memoir chronicling the harrowing search and rescue operation following the Oceangate disaster in June 2023. Drawing on Christine's real-time experience aboard the search vessel—from the moment communication was lost, to the tragic confirmation of the catastrophic implosion—the book speaks to anyone who has faced unimaginable loss while offering universal insights into grief, family bonds, and human resilience during crisis.

The book combines a first-hand account of the unfolding disaster with intimate family memories spanning two decades. Through alternating timelines, Christine weaves together the desperate 96-hour countdown with cherished memories of her husband Shahzada and 19-year-old son Suleman. Ninety-Six Hours is a testament to resilience and family unity in the aftermath of unimaginable tragedy. A story of loss, grief and, at its heart, love.

I listened to this book in one sitting. Absolutely gut wrenching. I know people will have opinions on whether people should be spending this much money on an experience or whether enough due diligence was done - but this is a very human story about a wife, mother, sister and daughter, losing 50% of their family in an instant. I cannot fathom how they feel, but this book certainly gave a very real and heartbreaking insight into the process of losing your closest family members, no matter the circumstances. Life is precious and this is certainly a good reminder.

This book tells the story of the tragic accident to the Titan submersible, in which her much loved husband and son were lost, interspersed with cameos of Christine Dawood's life in different countries with her husband Shahzada Dawood and her children. It builds the suspense through successive chapters narrating the loss of contact with the Titan and the increasingly desperate attempts to assemble enough rescue ships and remotely operated vehicles to locate the submersible within what was perceived to be the limit of available oxygen aboard the Titan. The focus is entirely on Mrs Dawood's recollections of her family and the agonising wait for news. No anger or blame are expressed; the kindness and support from the Oceangate team is acknowledged, whereas the culpability of its CEO, Stockton Rush, is left down in the dark depths of the ocean where it belongs.

Very moving story
