Summary

Keisha Ceylon is a psychic. At least, that's what she passes herself off as. The truth is, Keisha's real powers have more to do with separating troubled families from their money than actually seeing into the netherworld. Keisha watches the news for stories of missing family members. She gives it a few days, then moves in, tells these families she's had a vision, that she may have some clue to where these missing people are. And by the way, she charges for this service, and likes to see the money up front.

Keisha's latest mark is a man whose wife disappeared a week ago. She's seen him on TV, pleading for his wife to come home, or, if she's been abducted, pleading with whoever took her to let her go. Keisha knows a payoff when she sees one. So she pays a visit to our troubled husband and tells him her vision. The trouble is, her vision just happens to be close enough to the truth that it leaves this man rattled. And it may very well leave Keisha dead....

Read by Francine Brody.

Ok. Not brilliant.

one of these books with a kind of flaw in the plot that gets annoying. Not the best.

Weak ending.

Took a while to get going but it got better. Let down by a slightly weak and disappointing ending though.

Really tells me to listen to a sample first

Would you try another book written by Linwood Barclay or narrated by Francine Brody?

I love Linwood Barclay usually, but an unsympathetic heroine plus a one note reading seriously disturbed my enjoyment of this. I'd just buy the novel, if I were you.

What didn’t you like about Francine Brody’s performance?

Some people are talented, like the great Sean Barratt, for instance, at giving you a broad range of characters and a huge subtly of performance. Others are simply not, though they maybe great at being a character close to themselves. Lowering your voice an octave doesn't create a character. It's annoying.

Ok!

Full of twists and turns, almost like a 'catch me if you can' moment. The narrator was extremely frank and powerfully articulate.

Never Saw it Coming-Her Victims Did Not

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Download this, you wont regret it. Keisha is so interesting. She is a likeable rogue as seeks.out families of missing people and being an actress, she gets to help help them out of a few dollars in the hope they find there love one. The problem is the garbage she talks on one of her cases turns out to be too close to the truth.

There are a few story's that come together and will keep you guessing. There are some scarey bits which almost gave me nightmares.

What did you like best about this story?

It was fast paced, and although Keisha was not a good person, you got to like her and you get to to learn why she did what she did. She had a horrible Mother and a totally lazy boyfriend.

What about Francine Brody’s performance did you like?

I loved the accents of all the characters she did.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book scared me as Keisha was being strangled at one point.

Any additional comments?

I read Linwoods short story 1st and got to know about Keisha before listened to this.

Yawn

Sorry to say I was not a fan of this - usually his novels are witty and move at pace, this just doesn’t.

Never saw it coming? Saw it ALL coming a mile off!

Lame story with plot holes you could drive a bus through, awful characters and a terrible monotone delivery. Don't bother.

Boring, lazy & childish. Don't bother.

Sorry but this is just boring drivel. Words thrown together lazily by someone cashing in on a previous success. I'm about 2/3 of the way through and I don't give a toss what happens at the end. Waste of time & money.
