Summary

Meet Stella Batts. She is eight-years old and she loves to write. She loves to write lists; like her favorite things and kids in her class. And she's writing her autobiography. Stella's favorite color is yellow and she LOVES fudge. As a matter of fact, there is a special fudge counter at her family's candy store because fudge is one of her favorite things to eat!

But Stella has just one problem - her name. A boy from her class keeps calling her 'Smella' after she trips on their class nature walk. ("I don't even want to say what I landed in, it was too gross, so I'm just going to leave out that part."). So Stella decides there's really only one thing to do: she has to change her name. After all, how hard can it be to pick a new name? But it's not as easy as it sounds.

Great story that teaches good morals.

What did you love best about Needs a New Name: Stella Batts, Book 1?

I loved being able share this fun, wholesome story with my daughter. All of the content was positive. I would love to see more content like this out there. My daughter and I will read the whole sires once the rest of the series is Whispersync for Voice enabled.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

We listened to this book on the way home from vacation and my kids where enjoying it so much that they stayed in the car while I unloaded because they wanted to finish the epilogue.

Okay for what it is

If you are on audible at the moment looking for the deeper side of children's literature along the lines of CS Lewis, keep looking. If on the other hand you want something lite to keep your primary school children assumed for a short time this might be just the thing. This is good for what it is, just don't expect too much

I didn't like the bully of the story. I liked that the fudge was named after stella.

Cute story

entertaining characters, i really like them, relatable story
i also wanted to change my name, but when i got the age to be allowed to do the paperworks, i was used to my old one, still don't like it though
i like the childish - typical siblings' quarrel way, she realizes, she prefers her old name. :3

Great listen with my daughter

I was looking for something similar to Judy Moody, this was a pleasant surprise replacement Somehow I've never read Stella Batts so I bought it. Totally worth it. My 8 year old loved listening to it at night. It was a cute and fun listen for both of us. I wasn't bored like some other children's books.
