Summary
Abigail and Clementine were just a couple of orphans looking for a home.
But when the two girls witness something terrible, they have no choice but to leave their orphanage and go into hiding. The only person willing to take them in is a man named Mulberry, but his home isn't the safest place for two innocent children.
Abigail and Clementine quickly discover that their new caretaker is the head of a guild of assassins, and the two are thrown into a whole new life of danger. To survive, they'll need to adapt to a world they can barely comprehend, all without losing who they are along the way.
Discover intrigue, death, and contract killers in this exciting new sci-fi series from J.N. Chaney. If you're a fan of Black Widow, Cowboy Bebop, or Altered Carbon, you'll love this new adventure in the Renegade Star universe.

A good Assassin story
this is a good audio book. it convers 2 children who grow up to become assassin's. the description of maneuvers and combat is really good the way guns are explained etc is also nice.
it has a relatable story for many, it has humor and very well made characters. I feel sad having finished it and realising there are no more books to continue the story. I would have loved for this to become a series.
would recommend if you are looking for some action, with a deep ish story and good characters 👍

entertaining tale
a competent story, plainly written and well read. no particular attempt at originality, but the main protagonist is engaging, and the story gallops along to a satisfying climax.

Decent Performance. Story not great
Tess Irondale did a decent performance with what she had to work with.
The story itself bored me from the start. Stories with child protagonists should sound like children. Not adults interpreting children. For a good example see Richmal Compton.

WARNING! COULD TRIGGER
I tried really hard to get through the 1st chapter but I could not.
We have heard so many real life stories of children being abused by religious in orphanages. Having a nun strip and beat two young girls was an appalling first chapter/introduction to the author.
I just couldnt recommend it based on the half on of the first chapter I listened too. It made my skin crawl and I wanted to expunge it from my thoughts.
There should be notification on a books description so those of us who 'escape' into our books are not exposed to this content.
