Summary

When Tim Harding agrees to do a friend a favour by bidding for an antique ring at an auction on his behalf, he is unaware of the secrets tied up with it - secrets that date back three hundred years.

But the ring is stolen before it can be sold, and a shocking murder follows. Harding is quickly thrown into a web of conspiracies surrounding the ring's origins. As he draws closer to the heart of the mystery, he comes across a young woman he is certain he recognizes, even though they have never met.

But as he goes in search of her identity, his life begins to fall apart. Somewhere, a perilous truth awaits him, coupled with a terrible realization: those who uncover that truth cannot be allowed to live...

Great story, awful narration

Ripping yarn, as I’d expect from Robert Goddard but the narration was appalling. Had to switch to the printed version from chapter 18 onwards. Would recommend it but read rather than listen.

Good Story but an awful listen!

Gave up on this on Chapter 16, the narration was so poor, it is literally like listening to someone read a book for the first time rather than a professional story teller. Its true we have all been spoiled with the likes of Sean Barrett etc and I don't know the process for this but at some stage someone must sign this off and say 'great job!' am I missing something?

Probably best to READ this book

Out of 70 audio books this is the first that I have struggled to stay with. At the end of chapter 24 I gave up and couldn't listen to any more. The book itself is fine I read it back in 2011, It's a good Goddard yarn. The performance however left me cringing at some of the characters voices.
Extremely disappointing.

Disappointing

The usual great story from RG with some really interesting historical thrills but seriously spoilt by the narration. It was so bad I thought the guy was having a laugh!!!
I agree with previous review maybe best to read this one .
