About this listen

New York, 1910. George Dillman and Genevieve Masefield have crossed the Atlantic Ocean numerous times in their capacity as ship’s detectives. On those crossings they’ve had the pleasure, and in some cases the trouble, of sailing with very famous passengers. Dukes. Duchesses. Artists. Actors. Musicians. Royalty. But few names have quite the level of fame and fortune as their fellow traveller Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Now aboard the Celtic, Dillman and Masefield have a particular stolen book to recover and an elusive fugitive to apprehend, but will the famous writer help or hinder them? Previously published under the name Conrad Allen, the Ocean Liner series is making waves with a new generation of readers.

A more unusual storyline set at sea. Well written, as always, with different narratives for each character. The stories are easy to listen to with no particular gory bits.. Although George does have to put up with being attacked now and then. He seems to have a hard head, fortunately. While Genevieve attracts the attention of all the men. Not exactly PC in this day and age! Despite that, these are lightweight stories that make for easy listening. I am enjoying the series.

The variety of speech for each character.

Quite an abrupt ending, especially if this is the last book of the series. No conclusion to if the detectives continue their work.

Good story

The stories in this series follow a formulae. Nothing much happened out of the norm and if you needed to skip one in this series, this would be the one. Nothing moves forward in the story of George Gillman and Miss Genevieve Mayfield. These are lighthearted detective stories on transatlantic ships. Preferably listened to in order.

Another reliable sequel
