When Lizzie's car crashes with her two daughters inside, she faces a terrible choice. And when she recovers from her injuries, she has to deal with the impact of that tragedy as well as the police investigation into it.
As Lizzie and her family struggle to come to terms with the events of that night, things take an even darker turn. Just what did happen on that remote country road? Who is responsible? And can the family get through this together...Or will the truth finally tear them apart?
A stunning, deeply emotional and beautifully realised cross between SOPHIE'S CHOICE and DAUGHTER.

Critic reviews
The fantastic writing kept me hooked from the very first page
Laura Jarratt is a fabulous new voice on the crime fiction scene. More like this please.
Ambitious and articulate
I read it in two sittings. As a story of a mother's choice and subsequent grief and guilt it really tugs at the heartstrings. I was struck by how the author showed the different ways grief affected the various people concerned . It poses the question to the reader, what would I do in Lizzie's situation? And that in turn caused me a restless sleep!
Tense, twisty and compelling, Mother asks the question that no mother wants to answer...
[I'm] already talking about its premise to everyone I know. I even dreamt about it [...] it's the kind of disturbing where you need to read on...
It's a story... that carries a real twist
