Summary

Vince Ciacci wanted to be a "Made Guy". From the time he left the brutality of upstate New York's Coxsackie Reformatory, he worked for "Wiseguys", committing armed robberies, collecting for the Mob, and dreaming of the day that he would "get his button".

He never made it into the Mafia's inner sanctum. Why? He was too crazy and too violent. Hooked on drugs and alcohol, Vince was a loose cannon, so dangerous that his own crew considered taking him out.

This is his story, told in his own voice. It's the story of a guy who, by all rights, should be dead or in prison today. Come along for the ride in a story of true crime like you've never heard before.

"Ciacci's colorful New York accent sounds like he's straight from central casting. His delivery is casual and captivating. He presents his life as is, without apology, and often ends his stories with a self-deprecating chuckle that seems to suggest he can't believe his past himself." - Publishers Weekly (audio review)

MOBSHOT

This was very entertaining up until the 16th chapter, I then abandoned it when all the religious rubbish started. Vince May chuckle and tell a good story but he is a bad guy who for decades caused harm wherever he went. He now seems to think that because he has found God , that it's all forgiven . Anyway, my recommendation is listen to his interesting story up to the 16th chapter , then avoid all the religious brainwashing by ending it there.

Interesting enough but marred by repetition and waffle

This is an interesting listen, certainly - but it could have been half the length, even a third. There was just too much repeating the same old stuff. He’d been given 20 short podcast slots to fill, rather than tell the story straight and see that it only stretched to, say, eight or nine. Also, though he does touch on the mafia, to be sure, there isn’t that much meat about them. It’s mainly his life as an independent criminal. Still, it’s worth a listen. I just didn’t enjoy it as much as those posting rave reviews. Come on, it’s not THAT good.

Like listening to the old guy at the bar..

A bit repetitive and he boosts and blows his own trumpet but I enjoyed it.. I don’t care if it all happened or not it was just interesting to listen to..

why?

why on earth was there random bursts of music inserted in parts of the book that didnt seem to have anything to do with what was going on? ruined what could have been a good book!
