Summary

Faced with war and the end of the world, Eric - or Halar the First, King of Karvalen - must find a way to stop a godlike entity bent on his destruction. His quest will be no easy thing, not a straight line to his goal, but even he can't anticipate just how far it will lead him on this epic journey. He will have to go farther than he can imagine from everything he has ever cared about before he can even begin a new journey - a journey home.

Can he save the world and the people he loves? And, in so doing, will he be able to save himself?

Great book and nice addition to the series. I’m sad that I’ll have so long to wait before another installment comes out.

A tale of what will be and what has been

I am always a bit concerned when going back home in story I really enjoy. Fewer tales than I would like , enhance the hole of a story. So when I find such a story , I wish to honor the work an dedication it takes to craft such a tale .
I fear with my limited ability to Express in words my appreciation for this Journey and the way it was expressed .
I can tell from the wordsmith to spoken words , everyone put there heart and soul to bring this story to life .
I can only speak for myself , Yet hopefully all who have come this far in story will love it as I .
To the Writer, I cannot fathom the amount of thought struggle and sleeplessness it takes to birth a universe of Fantasy and worlds of imagination I am always glad to return The familiar characters and Thoughtful introspection ,congratulations and thanks !! To the narrator , The painstaking dedication to points of view diction patients and passion all else that goes into your craft. Some books can only be enhanced by a great audio performance . Thanks for your hard work ! To everyone who helps bring such great stories to life Family friends or editors, and countless others not as obvious . Thank you for the sacrifice and understanding That help such Talented people do there best to bring a wonderful story to life !!
Thank you all !!!

Big departure

So this story picks up where the last one ended but it’s doesn’t take very long for everything we have read and seen developed to be set aside because of the time travel element. That jarred me a lot. I miss the characters from book five, I really wanted to see what happens with the moon people and I liked the multiverse events of book five. This book has a little bit of the multiverse in the first quarter of the story right after Eric goes back in time but after that it settles on this one world that I imagined as some kind of feudal Japan but that’s probably just me. I dislike how Eric’s character has gotten angrier and angrier while making the same basic mistakes and hypocritical actions. For example he hates people spying on him but he spies on everyone else. He hates being a leader but when someone doesn’t call him but the honorific title of the position (that he is trying to reject and or avoid) then he gets very angry. There is not as much humor in this story and his alter ego god self is absent for the majority of the book. Eric can be super smart and very over powered but he fails to take basic precautions to keep his things from being stolen. Most of the time he is the one driving the conflicts to escalate rather than take actions to repair relationships or apologize. I wish he was the adventuring guy from the first, third and fifth book. Seems like the even books are always more moody and depressing and full of complaints. I also don’t understand how the orb of evil can be so powerful and indestructible. It seems like the orb was an excuse for the time jump between book two and three and a reason to jerk Eric out of being a king or adventuring on Rethvan. If the demon king entity was created then it can be destroyed. Why is it that only evil things dwell in Eric’s subconscious represented by the basement in his mental study? It’s like only his bad actions count and none of his good actions count. Anyway, what it boils down to is that as a character, Eric is becoming someone I don’t want to listen to or follow along with. He kind of reminds me of the person who thinks of themself as depressing so they act depressed and drive everyone away. Yet somehow there is always a woman that to quote firebrand “she likes you boss” which to be honest who the heck would want to be around someone who is always this angry and throws tantrums? Seriously, I lost count of the number of times Eric throws a tantrum in this book. One of my favorite moments was when his alter ego reestablishes contact with him and tells him to knock the dramatic dreaming off. Can we have adventure next time? Less Eric being a jerk and killing people for no reason? Though I do hope he raises the little girl that he has at the end. I hope the back of energy that went into her made her immortal or something. I also noted that even though Eric spent a lot of the book complaining about his time paradox and how he hates having no choice because he is fated to be his own vampire grandfather that he had a comment that he could see a way out of it. But not going to tell us that because it’s probably the plot of the next book. But at the same time even though he can see a way out he’s going to continue whining and moping about it. Maybe the next book will be more fun and less depressing. I just didn’t enjoy this book as much as previous entries.

It really felt like a filler.

Sean's performance was awesome. Unfortunately the story just felt like it went nowhere. I'm a big fan of Garon's work and I've been waiting for this story for so long and it just felt a little disappointing. It feels like the beginning of the end, but not in a good way.
