Summary

  • Dioses Puramente Romanos
  • Las Criaturas de la Mitología Romana

A good retelling of traditional Roman Mythology

It is a collection of different myths used to outline these gods and heroes of the Roman mythology. It was really interesting and I found out a lot of interesting things I didn't know about them

Great listen

Simply mentioning the Greek names when appropriate. This seems weird to me since usually the Greek names are used, mentioning the Roman Mythology. Still, pretty interesting

Educational and epic work

An overview of the various gods and myths of the Greeks and Romans - and a pairing of the brief overviews with the best artistic renderings of those myths through the ages - it is quite lovely.

appropriate

It isn't the myths and tales told in full, dramatic form, but more of a desk reference to the Greek and Roman Gods. Should come in handy if I ever.

interesting

They explain the wonders of the world by combining imagination and reality; as well as driving the readers to explore the relationship between human and (Greek/Roman) gods.

Simply great

Romans are one of my favorite books, but now my eyes have been opened to what the Matt was really saying. I knew in my heart that God was the good guy, but Matt provided the analysis to prove the book.

Roman gods

I think it's a great idea to Roman gods and myths when traveling in Europe, as the stories are the foundation of western literature and history.

Overall a great book

The Greek and Roman myths certainly changed my perspective on life and creation. These creative and seemingly hysterical stories are--after all--somewhat logical.

Perfection

Out of all the books I have on mythology, this is one I recommend. It doesn't become boring, there is no skipping through pages, skimming through chapters, etc. It tells the stories well and holds you there.

A necessary book

I really appreciated that the review sections did not simply test students' knowledge, but asked them to apply what they had learned.

Best

A good retelling of traditional Roman myths. Even though the book is textbook-like and written by a professor, most of the stories flow as well as any fiction work.

Good information

This book summarizes and retells different versions of myths in a super coherent way. It is categorized by characters and written in a (mostly) chronological order, which makes it very easy to follow through.

Oh my Gods

Oh, My Gods is a good book, albeit with a misleading name. There is nothing modern about these retellings. But the title intrigues people.

Decent place to start

This is a great book with wonderful retellings of the Roman myths. Although some myths are different from what I know, it was refreshing to hear about the myths from a different point of view and to compare the myths to other myths or their original tale.
