About this listen

A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER AS SEEN ON NATIONAL PUBLIC TELEVISION We've been led to believe that when we get sick, it's our genetics. Or it's just bad luck-and doctors alone hold the keys to optimal health. For years, Lissa Rankin, M.D., believed the same. But when her own health started to suffer, and she turned to Western medical treatments, she found that they not only failed to help; they made her worse. So she decided to take matters into her own hands.Through her research, Dr. Rankin discovered that the health care she had been taught to practice was missing something crucial: a recognition of the body's innate ability to self-repair and an appreciation for how we can control these self-healing mechanisms with the power of the mind. In an attempt to better understand this phenomenon, she explored peer-reviewed medical literature and found evidence that the medical establishment had been proving that the body can heal itself for over 5 years.Using extraordinary cases of spontaneous healing, Dr. Rankin shows how thoughts, feelings, and beliefs can alter the body's physiology. She lays out the scientific data proving that loneliness, pessimism, depression, fear, and anxiety damage the body, while intimate relationships, gratitude, meditation, sex, and authentic self-expression flip on the body's self-healing processes.By the time you finish Mind Over Medicine, you'll have made your own Diagnosis, written your own Prescription, and created a clear action plan designed to help you make your body ripe for miracles. I join Lissa in the call for healing the modern medical profession.

This book contains both the scientific data which quenches the thirst of the rational mind and the wisdom which our inner light recognized as truth.

I recommend this to everyone passionate about medicine, healing and life in general.

Would you listen to Mind Over Medicine again? Why?

I am going to listen to it again and again. It is packed full of good advice, positive attitude and hope. Lissa does not interfere with your spiritual beliefs so it doesn't matter what your religion or beliefs are, so many times I have returned books because they go into Buddhism or Hypnosis which is contrary to some of our beliefs, but this book is honest, open and a definite must have.

What other book might you compare Mind Over Medicine to, and why?

Nothing yet because it is the only one so far that has met my expectations without advocating that you believe in anything but your self.

What does Lissa Rankin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

You can lie back, relax while listening to her calm, friendly and articulate reading. It is as though she is sitting next to you talking to you like a friend.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There are a couple of sad experiences that touch your heart, there are some witty annotations too.

Any additional comments?

Yes, thank you Lissa, I have been waiting for this and searching so far without much success and now, I have found you.
