It starts with a phone call to Superintendent Dalziel from an old friend asking for help. But where it ends is a very different story.

I didn't know the was another Dalziel and pascoe novel after a cure for all ills so was pleased to find out that this covers Andy Dalziel's further recovery and return to active duty. the usual cast are back and it's just great fun to listen.

I loved D+P, and this story is up with the best,
but oh dear God it is amazing how a ha'porth of tar can spoil the ship.
The narrator has a great voice, or rather voices, and does the long story good service, but for one thing. In some way English might as well not be his native language. A significant number of times he simply fails to pronounce a perfectly common word properly. The one that is ringing in my ears after the end is "bow-wave of gravel". For some incomprehensible reason that was pronounced to rhyme with sew, not with bough.
We all make mistakes in our work, but SOMEONE should be listening attentively and spotting simple graunches which have a negative effect on the listener's pleasure which is quite disproportionate to their seriousness.

You can’t go wrong with narrator j.keebles and R.hill is a great writer.never liked the tv series years ago but will certainly buy more in this series.if your not sure give it a go it’s fun and serious at the same time.

The story started slowly for me and then I found it impossible to put down. A really enjoyable book with great storyline, listened to the last 2hrs straight off.
