I really enjoyed this listen! It dives deep into Mexican myths, superstitions, and folklore in such an engaging way. As a cat lover, I especially loved the chapter about cats and all the beliefs surrounding them. I had no idea so many of the superstitions I’d heard before had Mexican roots. It’s entertaining, educational, and beautifully narrated, a great listen for anyone interested in culture, storytelling, or a touch of mystery.

If you understand why something works or where it came from, what truly matters is that it still works for people. This audiobook embraces that truth wholeheartedly. It offers a compelling journey through the heart of Mexican superstition and supernatural belief systems, treating them not as relics of the past but as meaningful, living traditions that continue to guide and protect communities today.
What makes this work stand out is its respectful, insightful exploration of beliefs that are often misunderstood. Mexican supernatural traditions are not primitive or backwards, they are sophisticated, complex, and deeply woven into ideas of protection, community, respect, and one’s place in a world far greater than what we can see or touch.
This audiobook doesn’t just explain these beliefs; it helps you navigate a world where these forces are real, offering cultural context, personal stories, and practical understanding. It provides the insider knowledge needed to truly grasp what is happening beneath the surface, why people act, believe, and protect themselves in the ways they do.

I was surprised that some of the Mexican superstitions were similar to Asian ones. There were also some similarities with feng shui regarding the positioning of the bed and mirrors. This audiobook delivers a comprehensive checklist of do’s and don’ts when it comes to everyday living in Mexico. There are also explanations as to where the various traditions came from. The next time I go to Mexico I will refer back to this audiobook.
