I’ve had a crush on my brother’s best friend since the moment I laid eyes on him four years ago. Warner Ramsey is 225 pounds of pure hotness, a media darling, and one of the best NFL quarterbacks in the league. Hell, he’s the reason I figured out I’m solidly bi. It was easy to keep my crush under control when I was in college. Now, we play for the same team, and every time he talks smack, I want to shut him up. With my mouth.

Look, when I met the sexy, witty Brit on the streets of London last night, I had no idea who he was. He was just that hot guy I wanted to have a drink with, so I asked him out for my first evening in town. One thing almost led to another. After a midnight kiss, we made plans for a whole lot more the next day. But when I unlock the door to my rental in the morning, the English hottie is lounging on the couch like he lives here too. Great. For the next year, I’ll be sharing a tiny flat with the sexiest guy I’ve ever known.

Letting him go was the biggest mistake of my life. Giving me a second chance might be the biggest mistake of his. I’d spent a year as Ronan’s friend-with-benefits, convincing myself that he could never feel the way I felt. I was floored when those three little words flew out of his mouth. So, I ran and have regretted that decision every day for the last five years.

I had everything — school quarterback, popular with girls, and my dad was proud of me. I told myself it didn’t matter no one knew the real me. And then I nearly died. Landon saved my life. He’s the bravest guy I know. He came out a few years ago, proud and fierce, and he ran into gunfire to help others. Me, I’m a mess. Can’t even stand to be in a room with the curtains open. "Look out for Zach, and don't hit on him." My brother's request sounds easy enough. Keep an eye out for his best friend on campus and keep my hands to myself. Easy. Even if Zach is a quintessential nerd, who I've always thought was cute, I don't have the time to think with my...stick. There's only one stick I should be focused on this year, and that's my hockey stick. My goal once I graduate is to get an NHL contract. The last thing I need is a distraction. On or off the ice. Only, keeping to the rules is harder than I thought it would be.

Summary
Money problems? Marry your best friend!
Nathan and Raphael were friends first, then lovers, then...nothing when Raphael left to pursue his dreams of becoming a tattoo artist. But only one year after Raphael makes it out of his small-town home, bad news descends on him. His useless father has gotten their family into debt so deep , it would take 1,000 years to dig them out. With his siblings on the brink of becoming homeless, Raphael turns to his estranged but wealthy grandmother for help and receives a deal: If he settles down and marries, he'll free his siblings of the debt.
When Raphael asks Nathan for a favor - to enter a marriage of convenience - Nathan agrees. After all, he's doing it so he can start his own pet shop, right? Wrong. Nathan just can't say no to the man who used to be his best friend - the man he's still secretly yearning for, even as he's doing his best to hide that fact. After all, he knows better now than to fall for Raphael again.
Haunted by the loss of their past relationship, Raphael regrets breaking Nathan's heart. Scars from the past are never easy to heal, though, and the more time he spends with his new husband, the harder it gets for Raphael to deny the sparks that Nathan ignites in him. Except, this is just a pretend relationship, isn't it?
While this audiobook is part of the Oceanport Universe, knowledge of that series is not required to enjoy this story.

I love second chance stories!
Mating of Convenience is a great second chance story and John Solo did a great job performing the audiobook. This is part of the Oceanport Omegas world but it stands alone with no problem. I haven’t yet read/listened to that series and I never felt like I was missing anything. Having said that, I now want to go back and listen to those books. 😊

as good as the ebook
The story is always 4-5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.
The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, I’m over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.
PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!
To my ratings:
5* - very very good
it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A
3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

Best Friends in Love
Mating of Convenience is the first book in the Second Chances series. This series is a sequel to the Oceanport Omegas and follows the grownup kids from the first series. However, these books can be read as standalones quite easily. I suggest reading them all in order to get the maximum enjoyment from all the worldbuilding.
Nathan and Raphael are best friends who are also in love. They were dating until Raphael left Oceanport to pursue his tattooing dreams. But now Raphael is back, and all the feelings that were between Nathan and Raphael are free to bloom again. I loved this book and all the drama of the fake-yet-not-so-fake relationship between the two of them. The romance was lovely and I thoroughly enjoyed all the fluff and sweetness.

Great second chances story
This second chances story is great. It’s an omega verse mpreg tale and Raphael and Nathan are adorable. The narration is awesome, emotional. It’s generally low angst except in a few places. I got so angry at Raphael’s father and I cried at one point. I loved both grandmothers.

I liked the multiple themes!
Tattooist, Raphael, convinces still-pining ex-boyfriend, Nathan, to get married so Raphael can access his grandmother’s wealth to help out his family. I guess I don’t have a very sweet tooth, so this ticked a lot of boxes for me: I liked the two MCs; the omega social work balanced out the sweetness of the romance; this was a story where the omega struggled to conceive and didn’t pop out a baby like a vending machine; and the story didn’t spend the bulk of its time on being pregnant, giving birth, or child rearing. I would have liked more exploration of Nathan’s hurt and mistrust, and of Raphael’s family situation - it would have given the story even more depth. John Solo provided his always playful, fun, and expert narration.

Good
This is a second chance books, This about a feisty omega and a caring Alpha. Raphael left so He can pursue his dreams as a tattoo artist but regrets leaving Nathan his Alpha, Nathan is left with his heart broken and can’t move on. Raphael is back in his hometown to help his family and a series of events led to a pretend marry Nathan but these two are in love with each other but will they remain marry or break up? There are a few surprises in this book so you need to read it, I love second chances and with John Solo narrative he just gave each of the characters a depth and he nailed the story as well. Really would recommend this to anyone.

Marrying the best friend!
Raphael is going through tough times and his grandmother gives him a way out which was to get married. He is an omega so he asks his best friend to be his mate. The same Alpha he left on the dust years back. It’s a bit angsty and a little surreal but it’s a cute romance. I think Raph didn’t give his grandma enough credit lol

for what audience is this?
So, Mrs. Byrde created a world in which there is no difference between man and women, both can get pregnant, but then she happily provides one protagonist with male stereotypes and the other with female stereotypes. Why not writing a male/female story, then?
Second, the audience buys knowingly a male/male romance. I seriously doubt a reader buying a male/male romance is interested in a story about fertility.

A sweet second chance novel
A second chance novel that tugs on your heart! John Solo did a great job on narrating, each character had a distinct and expressive voice. Ann-Katrin Byrde knows how to write emotional and deep characters and did well with this book, one part I related to had me crying. Raphael and Nathan are the main characters of this book and their relationship is well told. I love Ann-Katrin Byrde books and this one was really good! The second generation of Oceanport is started with this book and I look forward to meeting new and old faces in this new series!

Turtle is Angel’s cuddly hubby
One irrefutable truth about MMramce industry is that a lot of authors write shifters or non-shifters Mpreg books and readers love them and devour them like starved men. 😁 And everyone has their preferred Mpreg authors. I also have some when it comes to Mpreg stories and one of them is Ann-Katrin Byrde. 💙 I love their stuff because the stories are low-angst, fluffy, sweet and very engaging. And usually John Solo narrates them so it’s a plus for me. 🥰 And I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet love story. 😉
Raphael left his small hometown and his first and only love to pursue his dream as a tattoo artist in a big city. Although he enjoys his work, he truly regrets leaving Nathan and that things didn’t end on good terms between them. Nathan left a void in his heart that no amount of happiness from doing his dream job can fill. When he got a call that his father has messed up and they are about to lose his family home, it’s time for Raphael to man up and go back to his hometown to take care of his incapable father and his younger siblings. Is he hoping he’d run into Nathan when he’s there? Yes, of course, but nobody has to know his undying yearnings. It took Nathan a long time to come to terms with that Raphael left him and he wasn’t enough for him to stay in Oceanport. But he has never stopped loving Raphael and he hasn’t dated anyone since they broke up. When he bumped into Raphael in town and when the man asked to marry him for a marriage of convenience, Nathan was speechless. He doesn’t want to pretend-marry Raphael. He wants to marry him for real. But on the other hand, if he doesn’t marry Raphael, the man is going to get married himself with someone else and he’s sure he won’t be able to just stand and watch it happen. So he agreed to marry Raphael ans help out his predicament. But what if their fake marriage turns into a real one? Is that too much to hope for?
Ok, there are a lot of surprises from this book. First of all, I didn’t realize these are second generation Oceanport Omegas. I have only read/listened two books from the original series but I loved them so much. 😊❤️ So imagine my delight when I realized these are the offsprings of original couples. 😱 Secondly, from reading the blurb, you would have assumed Raphael is the Alpha and Nathan is the Omega. So I was very pleasantly surprised that the opposite is the case here. 😉 Raphael is a very confident, edgy, independent Omega who’s brave enough to pursue his dreams and go for the man he wants. 👏 And Nathan is an Alpha only biologically because he’s very soft, sweet, homey and wants and loves babies. 😁 I love that a bit of role reversal here. 🥰 I won’t say this is completely angst-free because there’s a bit of a tragedy and some angst about two-third of the book but it was quickly remedied. The whole book is mostly very fluffy and sweet. 💜 And I think it’s more difficult to write about already established couples or second chance couples than fresh ones but Ann-Katrin Byrde did an excellent job here. 💎 I loved the UST, emotional conflicts and relationship development between Raphael and Nathan. And needless to say, John Solo did a wonderful job narrating this lovely story. 👏😍 The epilogue was very dreamy by the way. Loved it. ❤️ I cant wait to listen the next book in the series. 😊

Raphael and Turtle
Raph and Nate are pretty good - have their endearing moments seem awfully dense at several points in the story which makes me rate it where it as - it's like communication is a third language - and the alpha omega thing seems to just play a societal hierarchy thing - there are no other real manifestations of what that means - are they wolves? just men that are omegas can become pregnant, it's a bit confusing. But, in the end I enjoyed it.

Such a wonderful story!!!! Loved it!
I loved this story! I'm new to MPreg romances and Alpha and Omega stories but this one seemed different from the others. The Alpha, Nathan is sweet and romantic and not overbearing and 'alpha' like in other stories. I really enjoyed Ann-Katrin's take on the relationship balance between Nate and Raph. They were each hurt and broken but this second chance at their relationship was a perfect way to come back together!!
The story ebbs and flows so easily and so much happens as Nathan and Raph find their ways back to trusting each other again. What starts out as a marriage of convenience turns into an epic second chance romance! I dislike Raph's Grandmother and her use of money as power but Nate's Great-Grandmother is probably my favorite character with her lack of tact and unique knitted creations, she added the perfect moments of shock and hilarity when the story needed it most!!
I really liked that while they got married quickly and was sort of a 'fake marriage' when they got married they actually communicated (thank goodness!!) and the 'fake' part dropped away quite quickly. I loved this, as many stories draw out the angst and the will they or won't they parts but Ann-Katrin knew what she was doing and allowed her characters to build their real relationship back up almost from the start. I also loved that the Omega, Raph was quite bold, more so than the stereotypical Omega. This created a wonderful balance between Raph and Nate and you can just feel their love for one another grow as the story moves forward.
I loved this story and the narration was a joy to listen to and follow along with. I will definitely be re-reading/re-listening to this again. Now one of my favorites!!
Thanks for reading!

laughs and tears
Raph's grandma was an old interfering, controlling, rich, hag who should have grown a heart while her daughter was still alive. Grrr....
Raph's dad was a total waste of space and pathetic. What a failure as a parent!! I liked that two old friends and lovers came back together for convenience and stayed together for love. Raph seemed more alpha and Nate seemed more omega in personality, but it worked for them. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing it to life.

Good Story :)
I enjoyed this book very much. This was the first one that I've read/ listened to from Ann-Katrin Byrde and I will definitely be getting more. It kept my attention and had me going through every emotion. John Solo also did a good job bringing the characters to life. I'm looking forward to more in this series :)

Loved it all!
Not only was the story a great retelling of an old classic "fake-marriage" trope, the narration was great!!
I think the narrator did excellent giving each character their own voice and really putting feeling into it! The part with Raph at the end had me laughing out loud!
The story really was great and the couple adoringly awkward! I love how the Alpha seemed more submissive and the Omega more dominant!

The kids from Oceanport are all grown up...
And now we get to find out their stories!
I love that the author has given us Oceanport - the Next Generation. The kids are all grown up and having life experiences for themselves. We've met Nathan and Raphael before, both in the story that bridged Oceanport and the Second Chances series, and from their fathers in their own books. I love that both of these two aren't the stereotypical roles associated with their status - alpha and omega. Raphael is strong-willed, determined, and wants to go out and have a career. Nathan is sweet, softer, quieter, all roles that might typically be associated with an omega. I love that they are the opposite and are just completely perfect for each other.
Throughout their reunion, the humor, their crazy grandmothers, there is also some heartache and pain and loss, but I love how they cope with everything that happens and move on. I really enjoyed their story. I can't wait for more characters - and to FINALLY get Jake and Conner's story! (I'm dying to know what's going on with them!)
John Solo is such a great narrator for this series. He does quirky, fun character voices (the grandmothers in this story are a hoot), and I'm always glad when I can tell the characters apart in an audiobook, and I always can with his. He really brings life to the characters and I enjoy books that he narrates!
