Summary

Sein berühmter erster Fall: Maigret gerät in ein turbulentes Verwechslungsspiel. Interpol kündigt Kommissar Maigret die Ankunft des europaweit gesuchten Betrügers Pietr der Lette an. Maigret erwartet ihn an der Gare du Nord, kann den vornehmen Herrn, auf den die Beschreibung zutrifft, jedoch nicht verfolgen: Auf der Zugtoilette wird nämlich ein Toter gefunden, der ebenfalls wie Pietr der Lette aussieht. Maigret muss sich entscheiden, welche der beiden Spuren er verfolgen soll.
