Summary

"Just let me love you...."

When Maleen King's father catches her naked in the hay loft with her high school sweetheart, he sends the 18-year-old away to receive a college education and rise above the humble beginnings of a Kansas dairy farm. Now, 14 years later, Mal comes home to run the farm after the death of her father. The stress of a disastrous marriage and being a NYC stockbroker made her long to return to a simple life.

Braydon Daniels, devastated when Mal's father sent her thousands of miles away, has thought about her every day since. Now, over a decade later, he finds himself alone, divorced, and beaten down by the trauma of his broken marriage. When Mal comes back to town for her father's funeral, he realizes the feelings he once had for her are just as strong. There's one little snag, though. His ex-wife is the woman Mal has hated her whole life. And they have a child together.

Despite the struggle to recover from their past relationships, the undeniable attraction between them still exists. Can they rekindle the passion they once had?

Please note: This is a 28,000-word second chance love story loosely based on the Grimm fairytale "Maid Maleen". No cliff-hanger and has an happily ever after ending. Bray is a non-alpha, sweet country boy. So if you like alpha-holes, this novella is not for you!

A Short Sensual Modern Day Fairy Tale

Made Maleen is a sensual modern-day twist on Grim fairy tales and a second-chance romance. The plot is well-developed, and the characters are captivating. Maleen and Braydon's connection is hot, and their chemistry is off the charts. Jeanne St. James is a brilliant author with the ability to charm the readers/listeners. The duel narration by Jason Clarke and Ava Lucas is outstanding; I thoroughly enjoyed their performance.

Loved it!

There is nothing better than a full complete audiobook that you can hear in just a few hours that gives you the whole story. This was a sweet book which isn’t the usual from Jeanne St. James but being the professional that she is. She writes an amazing book full of undying love and weaves us a fantastic love story.

Loved Ava Lucas as Maleen, she gives her just the right amount of sass and true grit to hold her own. Jason Clarke is Dreamy as a cowboy and he sure made me smile and swoon.

One you sure don’t wanna miss for this novella.

fun short story

I would call this a great second chance romance, not a twist on the fairy tale. However, I enjoyed it and I liked that I got to learn a new fairy tale as the first chapter.
Lots of sex and everyone else in this story was awful except the 2 main characters lol

Narration was fabulous but these are two seasoned pros so I wouldn't expect anything less

Great narration

I wasn't familiar with the original fairy tale, so I really appreciated that the author included a summary before the beginning of the book. That being said, I'd say this was very loosely based on the fairy tale. They were both second chance stories, but the major events of the story weren't at all similar (which is okay). At the beginning of the book the two main characters were already in love, so instead of a getting together story, it was more about the steamy scenes, second chance beginning relationship pitfalls and more steamy scenes (i.e. not a slow burn).

The two narrators were really fabulous and enhanced the story. Jason Clarke is a favorite of mine, and Ava Lucas matched him well. I always appreciate dual narration when there are two points of view.

The Cowboy and the Princess

Made Maleen is a short yet steamy second chance romance between Braydon, the sexy cowboy/veterinarian, and Maleen, the princess/former stock broker. It is a sweet story of love conquering all including a wicked witch and a father who tries to keep them apart. Braydon and Maleen are both likable characters who deserve their happily ever after. Jason Clarke and Ava Lucas did an amazing job bringing this story to life. I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Sweet Sexy Twist on a Fairy Tale

Sweet second chance modern fairy tale that had plenty of heat and sexy times. After her father tore them apart and sent her away Mal and Bray discovered they both still wanted each other 14 years later. They were both so likable and easy to root for. I really enjoyed the 3 hours I spent listening.

I was again reminded how much I love narration from Jason Clarke and Ava Lucas both. They were perfect for the story. This is my first book by Jeanne St James and will check out her other titles.

Braydon is swoon worthy!

I really enjoyed this story. I hadn't read it yet but the audio was fantastic. As always, Ava Lucas and Jason Clarke did a fabulous job with the narration. Maleen and Braydon get a second chance at romance after 14 years apart but their connection and love is still just as strong as it was when they were younger. Their story is well written, as always, with Jeanne St James usual awesomeness.

At first I wasn’t sure I wanted to listen to this book but the first chapter grabs you and you can’t wait for more! This is a true love story of Maleen and Braydon and after years of separation can they come back together and find the love they once had.
The narrators Jason Clarke and Ava Lucas are amazing!
And once again Jeanne St James does it again!

Sweet second chance romance

This was a quick and sweet listen. Mal and Bray were high school sweethearts and have a second chance at love when she moves back home. After both having failed marriages they find that they still have that same love and chemistry for each other. The narrators did amazing with these characters.

A Modern Twist On The Brothers Grimm

I wasn't familiar with this fairy-tale prior to listening to this audio so I really appreciated the synopses at the beginning.

This a a smoking hot second chance romance. Mal and Braydon were high school sweethearts. Mal's father breaks them up, years pass and life happens. Mal finds herself back in the town Braydon never left.

You can feel the chemistry between the main characters and it's really fun listening to them reconnect. There are obstacles from their pasts they have to overcome/ deal with to fully commit to each other and find their happy ending.

Overall there is a lot of story packed into this short. The story-line is well thought out and has a very satisfying ending, The narrators are fantastic. Its a solid 5 stars for the narration!

Finally! They need to figure this out

It takes Maleen's father dying to get her back home and to confront her past and Bray, the love of her life. A few scenes were more explicit than I was expecting but not a deal breaker, just be careful if the volume is up and there are kids around! Love the nicknames Cowboy and Princess, it totally works for them. And their ex's? Don't get me started, anyone with an ex can totally relate to the drama and bitchiness. Not sure who's ex is worse or did more damage to their self-esteem. Loved that it was a quick listen, but the whole story was there, no corners cut.

Sweet, with a little spice

This was a departure from other books I have read or listened to from Jeanne St James but in saying that I really enjoyed it. From start to finish the narrators Jason Clarke & Ava Lucas drew me in and kept my attention in this quick novella.

This is a sweet and romantic story that still manages to have some spice and steam to it. Well written, it will whisk you away and gave me a great break from the realities of life for a couple of hours.

I really liked both Maleen King and Braydon Daniels and found them easy to relate too. This is a second chance at love story that will have you cheering.
Will Maleen and Bray take a chance on love and in doing so put the past behind them? One click and find out.

Sweet and sexy second chance romance

I hadn’t heard of the original Maid Maléen tale so the author’s note at the beginning was very helpful. Second chance romances are one of my favorite tropes and this story doesn’t disappoint. Ava Lucas does a great job conveying both the strength and vulnerability of Mal as she grapples whether she can open herself up once again to the possibility of a happily ever after with her first love, Braydon. Jason Clarke is always great and he doesn’t disappoint here. You can feel his frustration as he tries to overcome the many obstacles that have been worked to prevent him from being with Mal. All in all this was a short and sweet listen with just the right amount of steam. Both narrators captured the characters beautifully and had me rooting for their happily ever after. This audiobook was given to me for free in exchange for an honest review.

Great Fairytale!!

This is a short novella by the author it’s the first one I’ve read and I enjoyed it. It’s a second chance romance. The story is about Maleen and Braydon they are teenagers in love but her father is against them being together because he wants more for his daughter than to be working on a farm. He pushes them apart and life goes on for both of them both having highs and lows. Even with time passing neither one forgets about the other and when fate brings back Maleen to the place she once called home can the couple find there way back to each other?

Overall it was nicely done, keeps the reader invested, your rooting for them to get the second chance they deserve and it can be read in one sitting if a reader chooses.

The narrators were amazing and did the story justice.
