Summary

Mark Murray loves his girlfriend, Rebecca Lucio, but she doesn’t love him. She believes their love has withered away, and she has already fallen for another man, but she struggles to formally end her relationship with Mark. But Mark knows everything already - the lies, the deceit, the cheating. He has a plan to punish Rebecca in the most violent, disgusting way possible. He is going to make her sick...unbelievably sick.

Jon Athan, the author of Dr. Sadist and Scattershot, reinvents the definition of "lovesick" in this disgusting, gag-inducing, and extremely violent horror novel.

Disturbing , sadistic and engrossing

This is the first book I have read / listened to by Jon Athan and I certainly hope that it wont be the last. I love this genre and have a love of the disturbing and squeamish. I was intrigued by the cover and I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to hear this book. It is highly disturbing and it makes you genuinely think about how far somebody could go when affected by a cheating partner. The resentment held that could make somebody lose control of their actions. just great all round listen . I was given this book by the author/narrator in return for an honest and unbiased review

Love? Sick!

I have meet my match in horror! I could do nothing but frown and gag through most of this story. But, this is my kind of book, as long as it's fiction. This isn't the scary kind of horror, it's the horror of what one person can do to another. The writing is really good and the storyline never boring. I listened to this in one setting, it probably won't cause nightmares, but this will linger in my mind for days causing shivers throughout my entire body, inside and out!

IF YOU HAVE A WEAK STOMACH, DON'T LISTEN. IF YOU HAVE AN AVERSION TO STRONG SICK AND DEPRAVED TREATMENT TO ANOTHER PERSON, DON'T LISTEN. IF YOU'RE UNDER 18, WAIT A FEW YEAR'S BEFORE TRYING TO LISTEN.

Matthew E. Berry deserves an award for his performance with this audible.

I received this audible free at my request. This is my honest review.

Ever Love Someone Who Hurt You?

Usually when books give me a warning about the graphic nature of a book, I think yeah right, you should read some of the stories I have read. Just like when someone tries to tell me that something is hot, really, try eating some of the things I eat. Well I will tell you that for the average person this is quite spicy and will burn you on the way in and on the way out. This was a disturbing story and gruesome to boot. I have heard plenty of gruesome and disturbing stories and this one was up right up with those. I wouldn’t say this was the most graphic story I have heard, but I did actually have to pause it midway and take a break for something a bit more light hearted. Not something I’m using as an endorsement, but merely a warning for those who can’t handle really sick and twisted stories. I you ever asked yourself, why am I listening to this awful story, this isn’t for you.

The story itself is your basic revenge story amped up on black tar, meth, and a whole bunch of STDs. A lover spurned exacts his revenge in an extremely violent and gory way. I have to hand it to the imagination of the author, the closest thing I can really compare this to is Se7en. Right off the bat, you are thrown into a dark scenario and it just gets darker from there. You get taken to some really quaint places in the neighborhood that really set the scene for the depravity you encounter. None of the story was scary, but you will want to take a shower after and maybe rinse, lather, and repeat a few times. The only thing the bothered me was the seemingly endless supply of cash that Mark had for a burger flipper.

While the main focus is really on the shock value of the scenes, you do get enough of the characters to know that neither of them are really good. Typically, with revenge stories I like there to be at least one redeeming character who you can latch onto, not so much here. I couldn’t sympathize with any of the characters and while none of them started out evil, Mark definitely gets there. While I liked his resolve and psychotic ways, the further his plan progressed the more I drifted away from him and felt sorry for Rebecca. By the time the story ended, nothing surprised me and while odd, I didn’t quite mind it. It was a mixed bag of emotions on a nauseating ride.

Matthew Berry did a good job with the narration. I liked his narrator voice and his subtle changes in tone for the characters. As I didn’t think the characters were meant to be the focal point, I’m glad there wasn’t over the top character voices. Impressed with Berry's ability to read this type of story with a steady voice. I think he told the story how it should have been and with his confident straight forward voice, it was that much more obscene.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Not a Fan

I received a free copy of the audiobook version of this for review not really a fan love horror but this is just torture porn and mean no real imagination not scary just sick and mean not my cup of tea doesn’t real get in your mind as its all laid out for you. Good horror gets in your head because of what’s not said and lets your mind paint the picture. Just could not get past chapter 14

Disgusting & Disturbing

You really do need to take the warning at the beginning of the book seriously. This is not something for the squeamish, faint heated or the easily offended. There are descriptions of sexual torture in this book and some of the scenes are a bit hard to listen to.

I will say that in the case of the revenge dished out here, less would have been more and probably made for a better book.

For fans of the twisted and demented, this ones for you.

Seriously Sick and Demented

Love sick is a seriously twisted and devious book where revenge means everything. I read the warning and I thought that it was all talk but I was dead wrong. This book is descriptive, imaginative, creepy but amazing at the same time. The storyline is strong and the main character is demented. I highly recommend this book if you love twisted and deprived storylines. I asked for and received this audio book. I am writing this honest review of my own volition.

Creepy and suspenseful

The book was very graphic, and creepy, however, it was very suspenseful and kept you coming back for more. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes to read psychologically thrillers.
