Where does Loose Cannon rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I enjoyed the book, it was fast paced and exciting, its about 2 mafia families at war together, as more characters get picked off you get the feeling its a lot more then just a family feud

Who was your favorite character and why?

The young Detective

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I thought some of the accents were a bit strange, its hard to do a Italian gangster accent!

Good Gangster Book

This fast paced story is a great listening experience.

Our London based Special Investigations Unit detective, Joe Stone is involved in the investigation of multiple murders in London, centred around prominent crime families. I enjoyed reading about Joe because he came across as a good guy. While this may sound like the kiss of death to some, I appreciated it. He’s a man trying to do a good job. He is polite and respectful of his colleagues. He’s thoughtful and a good friend. He has experienced personal loss, and while his way of coping has been to throw himself into his work, he hasn’t developed into an angry character.

The mystery of who the killer was kept me guessing to the end. There were several people who could have committed the crime but none of the storylines felt forced or red-herring like in nature.

Richard Nicholls did a great job narrating the book. The pacing of the story is brought out wonderfully with the narration. There’s a sense of urgency when it’s required. And one the other end of the spectrum, contemplation when that’s needed.

Highly recommended.
