Having seen the film, and the TV series first, I read the book already know what a sandman looks like, and the domes. The book takes you on a discovery behind the sandman's choice, truth or lies, and his growing relationship with Jessica. A chase to start, that leads into a violent escape and a surprising ending.

A bleak bright future

I was intrigued by the concept but would have preferred more content about how this maximum of age 21 rule came to be and the impact of it. There was a little too much focus on action I feel and the intrigue of the concept could have been played to more. The character development wasn't brilliant but there were some interesting plotlines. Overall a decent sci-fi and the fact the narrator was the author also added to the enjoyment for me.
