About this listen

Living with Bipolar Disorder is a daily challenge, but it can also be the first step toward a bright future. Much heartache, pain, and challenges can happen simply because many still do not understand what is going on, or how to deal with it. Simply acknowledging that you have bipolar disorder is a great first step to rebuilding your life. Once you know what you are dealing with, it gets a whole lot easier to manage.

The book is a supportive and informative assistance that provides the necessary tools and strategies to understand what you or your partner is going through and how you can cope. Inside, you will discover:

  • What a bipolar diagnosis really means and what is happening inside the brain on a biological level
  • What your treatment options are, and when temporary in-patient care is the best course of action
  • How to calm the emotional storm so that you can feel more peace and less pain
  • Practical ways to manage your thoughts and feelings so that you are in control of them
  • The common bipolar triggers and what to do to avoid them
  • How to manage a bipolar episode so that everyone comes out the other end with minimum damage
  • How to help friends and family understand your condition better so they can support you in your time of need
  • How to face your fears of abandonment and what to do about those dreaded feelings of emptiness and loneliness
  • What it takes to rebuild trust and repair broken relationships
  • And much more

As a mental health Nurse, I've been hunting for a book just like this one. Before I read it. This book opened my eyes to the condition and showed me how I may assist my patients as well as myself, and effectively cope with my environment. It is packed with useful advice, and I can't wait to put it into practise so that my life and the lives of those under my care can be improved.

Great Book.

For too long people have named and shamed what they fear and do not understand. Shining a light on that and bringing with it enlightenment and inspiration to the sufferers of Bipolar Disorder and those interacting with someone with the condition is admirable and very well done in this book. I have family members with the condition and I know of the stigma attached. Everyone who have had the gift of interaction should read this book and understand that we are all the same with different challenges and Bipolar disorder disorder is nothing to be ashamed or afraid of. I love it when someone writes from a place of great knowledge and passion to squelch dogma, stigma and bs. A very well written and beautifully narrated book.

Excellent, uplifting and eye opening

The author did an excellent job providing a wealth of information on bipolar disorder, what it is and how to recognize when someone you know might have it. This audiobook discusses the importance of seeking help from a mental health professional and how to provide support to someone who is suffering from bipolar disorder. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking to understand more about bipolar disorder.

This book contains some great information on Bipolar Disorder. The author provides insight for those that don't have it, but want to understand it better, and also some useful, concrete examples of techniques to manage it if you have been diagnosed.
Two of my favourite lines in this audiobook are that it's OK to slow down and try to understand yourself, and many small steps will get you where you want to go.
It was a very interesting listen for me. I think there may be undiagnosed members of my family that are bipolar. (I'm not a doctor.) And I also see similarities in the behaviour of my late alcoholic father.
Mental health issues are more common than people realize and much of the suffering is invisible and undiagnosed.
As the author says, it is important to seek help when you think you need it, and it's OK to ask for help.
This is full of great, non-judgmental support for those that have been diagnosed. I love how she says to be proud of your perfect imperfections. She wants to help listeners let go of the past and create new roads to a happier and more peaceful future.
There are great tips, such as keeping a diary/journal of your episodes, and examples for recognizing and understanding emotional triggers that cause you to be suddenly afraid or angry in a situation where you probably shouldn't be. This made me think of some of my own past situations where I experienced intense emotion that was out of context.
The author provides some great examples of challenging situations and tips for how to manage your thoughts and emotions.
I think this would be a valuable resource for both those affected directly, and those seeking to understand.

The audible" Living with Bipolar Disorder" I found to be an explosive piece which tries to demystify Bipolar Disorder. The issues around this condition were discussed in greater length. I can say with full confidence after listening to this audible I have learned a great deal about the condition. For instance, it is a condition of the brain such as mood episodes or periods which can be treated. The importance of structure and routine was discussed as a solution. Overall a useful resource that should be referenced when dealing with Bipolar Disorder.
