About this listen

Whilst their father is fighting in the American Civil War, four sisters and their mother struggle to survive with help from a wealthy neighbour. Each girl has to overcome their own individual battles, which range from short temper to the contraction of scarlet fever. Each will bring the family closer together or further apart.

The story tells of their progression into womanhood and how they cope with the competitive romance of the neighbour's grandson and his tutor.

Here is a true American classic, read superbly by Connie Booth.

I loved the story line and the person that was reading it was great at all the voices.

Loved it

This classic novel is well worth a listen. The narrator has a lovely voice with a nice American accent (I was just imagining the author herself reading to me). You really can't beat a classic novel to bring you back to your childhood when you first read it and were affected by it...that's how I felt anyway. Little Women is an audio book not to be missed.

A Classic. Worth a listen

I prefer this to the full-length version in many ways, as there are fewer tangents. I will probably give the unabridged version another try soon, but honestly, I have always loved this Talking Classics adaptation. I relate the most to Jo.
