THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER FROM THE AUTHOR OF CRAZY RICH ASIANS

Eden Tong is used to feeling out of place. Growing up next door to Greshamsbury Manor, she spent her days in the shadow of the chilly matriarch Arabella and her children: free-spirited Augie, golden child Bea, and Rufus, Eden’s childhood best friend.

When she receives an invite to a luxurious wedding in Hawaii, she finds herself thrown back into the family’s orbit: and face-to-face with Rufus. The future Earl is gorgeous, artistic, and – unbeknownst to Eden – desperately in love with her.

But his mother has other plans. Arabella knows the terrible truth – the Greshamsbury family is drowning in debt. Rufus needs to find a match with serious money to keep them afloat. Arabella is prepared to destroy anyone who gets in her way. Including Eden . . .

Lies and Wedding transports its reader from the white-sand beaches of Hawaii to the colourful medinas of Marrakech, via the glitzy bachelor pads of Beverly Hills and opulent English countryside manors. This is a hilarious, juicy, and page-turning story about love and money – and the lies we tell to keep them.

Critic reviews

LIES & WEDDINGS is truly delicious - it's everything I want a book to be, exhilarating, clever and fun. Life is better when I'm in the middle of a Kevin Kwan book. I didn't want this to end. I think it's his best yet (Daisy Buchanan)
Expect glorious, salacious fun
Salacious and addictive, every page left me giggling with glee (Annie Lord)
This novel is vintage Kwan and this time we take a hilarious dive into the Anglo-Asian billionaire scene which is populated with fierce Chinese moms, power-mad aunties, penniless English Lords, fabulous weddings, stately homes and too many secrets to mention. Imagine Crazy Rich Asians mated with Saltburn and you've got Lies and Weddings - a heavenly summertime read! (Plum Sykes)
Mr. Kwan knows how to deliver guilty pleasures . . . outrageous . . . wickedly delectable
A plot with more twists than an Elsa Peretti for Tiffany corkscrew
A hugely fun tale
Endlessly entertaining . . . you can’t be in a bad mood while reading this book

Loved it! It was was like being a guest at the most outrageous wedding ever! I couldn't stop laughing as the drama unfolded, especially when Kitty, the queen of chaos, made an appearance. This book totally satisfied my craving for luxury, scandal, and belly laughs. I couldn't 't put down!

I've read all his previous Books from Crazy Rich Asians to Sex and Vanity and this book never disappointed, the attention to detail and if you have read his previous book you will know what oli mean and the drama it's to die for.

The drama and attention to detail

The reader's performance did not let me enjoy the book. I wish I had bought the paperback on this occasion

Sorry the reader ruined it for me

This doesn’t have the level of wry humour that I expect from Kevin Kwan and which has made the other novels so compelling and enjoyable. And unfortunately, the narrator had a really weird cadence to her telling, with pauses where I’m sure it wasn’t written. She made a lot of the characters loud and shrilll - thus is probably how they were intended by the the author but reading that is one thing; hours of hearing it are quite another!

Annoying narration of a mediocre novel
