Dans Félifax, publié à l'origine en 1929, le fils de Paul Féval s'est donné pour tâche presque impossible de rassembler deux archétypes : Sir Eric Palmer, le grand détective britannique, successeur de Sherlock Holmes, contre Félifax, né dans la jungle, tiger-man, un clone littéraire de Tarzan, dans l'espoir de générer une synergie singulière. Contrairement à la grande majorité des imitations Tarzan, Félifax n'est pas un enfant sauvage mais quelque chose de tout à fait nouveau et révolutionnaire : le résultat d'une expérience biologique, créant ainsi un lien thématique avec des super-héros de bandes dessinées tels que The Incredible Hulk.
