Story
Mitch always had the power...or the curse. It had been passed down in her family tree, generation to generation. No matter how far away she ran, the unwanted visions of killing filled her mind. She felt the victim’s terror, the terrible pain of the stabbing knife. Unable to banish what she has seen, Mitch goes to the police. And seals her doom.... The murderer knows that Mitch’s gift is real. The next death Mitch sees will be her own.

Story
One day, it starts raining-and never stops. Global super-storms decimate the planet, eradicating most of mankind. Pockets of survivors gather on mountaintops, watching as the waters climb higher and higher. But as the tides rise, something else is rising, too. Now, in the midst of an ecological nightmare, the remnants of humanity face a new menace, in a battle that stretches from the rooftops of submerged cities to the mountaintop islands jutting from the sea. What hope does an already-devastated mankind have against this new supernatural adversary.

Story
Midnight. Some call it the witching hour. Others call it the devil’s hour. Here in the graveyard, midnight is a very special time. It is a time when ghostly spirits are at their strongest, when the veil between our world and theirs is at its thinnest. Legend has it, that while most of the world is asleep, the lack of prayers allow the spirits to communicate under the cover of darkness, among the headstones, their whispers rustling in the leaves of the old oak trees. But if you’re here in the graveyard, you can tell yourself it’s just the wind....

The night uncovers all we wish not to see. A troubled man enters a dusky park before sunset. A young woman follows, hidden in shadow. Both have returned to the park to take back something the past has stolen from them, to make right six long years of suffering, and to find justice or perhaps redemption - or maybe they'll settle for some old-fashioned revenge. It has many names: Bigfoot...Yeti...Sasquatch. But whatever it is, it’s out there in the woods and leaving a trail of blood and severed heads behind it. For John Moon, a half-mad Indian, it is a spirit that holds the key to his inner self. He worships its power and he’ll kill to protect it. The Scottish Highlands; a sparse, mountainous region some say was carved by the gods themselves. Few places are as untouched as this harsh, prehistoric landscape. It is no place for man. But nestled deep within the wilderness lies a cottage, and behind that cottage is a hill.... When a group of friends travel up from Manchester and hire the cottage for a weekend of boozy fun, they discover a threat far greater than the harsh landscape and unwelcoming weather.

Summary
Don’t think about it...don’t talk about it...and if you feel a prickling on the back of your neck...don’t turn around!
Matt Hardison doesn’t believe in the Shadowstealer, an evil spirit that could steal a person’s shadow and demand they sacrifice pieces of themselves. It was just a local boogeyman, a gruesome campfire yarn to frighten youngsters; not something that adults took seriously.
The Shadowstealer is Matt’s new novel, a bestseller featuring the creepy legend that frightened him as a child. However, Matt has forgotten one very important thing about the Shadowstealer: it can only claim your shadow if you believe in it...and his new book has just created thousands of believers....

Sometimes A Novel Can Be Much More
This is a novel about a story that transcends the page to reap its evil intent on those who believe in it. The characters are all wonderfully created and we are immersed into their world. The tension is slowly ramped up as we begin to understand what is happening around and to the characters. The tale is very well told with a narration that adds too, rather than detracts from, the telling. This is a very enjoyable book, perhaps best listened to with the lights on to keep the shadow away.

Solid Horror Saga
First and foremost this was written in 1994 so it definitely fits more in that time period than this one in terms of extremity and themes. Once you get past that you're in for a bit of a slowburn delight as you hear about the Shadowstealer, a boogyman and urban legend akin to Candyman. So what happens when the main character writes a story about the Shadowstealer without realizing it exists, creating believers of something that can only attack those who believe? Well you'll have to listen to this story to find out but it's a great time.

Good read
There were some parts that kinda dragged out a little longer than necessary but not bad and not to many. Other than that it was a really good story and original, where as a lot of horror stories all have same plot just different characters and location. The only real problem I had with it was the constant use of GD in lot of areas through out the story. I don’t know why authors seem to think people use that phrase so often and in every other sentence from certain characters in their story especially I find when the story takes place in the south. I grew up in Georgia and I honestly don’t know anyone who talks like that. And find it unnecessary to portray characters even the harsher ones that way. I’ve known some pretty rough characters in my forty years and even they use it very rarely. Not that regular profanity bothers me , when I was younger my mother said I had the mouth of a sailor which would always get me in trouble and I still knew better than to ever utter that word. Anyways aside from that I did really like the story and would be interested in hearing more stories from him. Also loved the narrator he did great. Especially with the different characters, you always know which person was talking by the different voices he used for each. I’ll also be keeping a lookout for more of his work as well. And I never like giving away the story in my reviews cause I personally hate it when others give you the entire story in the review and doesn’t leave you anything to forward to. But I will just say next time you notice that your shadow is missing when everyone else’s is before them, DONT LOOK BACK. I was given this audio in exchange for honest and fair review. Happy listening.

Horror like you've never heard!
This book was so good. And in an industry that can get repetitive, it constantly surprised me, and pulled me along, at the expense of a whole nights sleep. The characters were profound and interesting and I just can't say enough good things about the plot or the monster. Let There Be Dark uses one of my favorite tropes, an author writing a book about an author writing a book, and makes it scary and cool in a way I haven't seen since I read the Dark Half when I was a teenager.
The only downside to this book, is that The Shadow Stealer sounds like a great book, and I was disappointed to not be able to read it.
I would highly suggest this book! It was so fun, and so scary!

vein of Stephen King
I received this audiobook in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.
This was a surprisingly good book. The narrator does a great job with the accents of the different characters which really helps bring them to life. The story itself reminded me very much of an older Stephen King novel. While the story is dated in some areas, I had a fun time trying to figure out when this story was meant to take place. Despite being a bit dated, the story isn't affected too much by this and easily could see this story taking place in more modern times. This was quite a long listen (+12 hours or so) but doesn't feel long, nor does the story drag feeling like it should have ended 20 chapters ago. Good lite listen that will keep you entertained for hours.

Scared of your own shadow
I was given this book for a honest review. The story starts really slow, which I kind of imagine is because the characters are tending it to be that way. There is a lot of characters to track and I found myself more than once saying..which one was that? Please do keep with the story...it gets kind of deep and spooky. Like religious deep. I really liked the story but took a while to get there, so be patient and it is worth it. Does make you do some thinking haha.
