About this listen

Lady Constance Keeble, sister of Lord Emsworth of Blandings Castle, has both an imperious manner and a valuable diamond necklace.

The precarious peace of Blandings is shattered when her necklace becomes the object of dark plottings, for within the castle lurk some well connected jewel thieves - among them the Honourable Freddie Threepwood, Lord Emsworth's younger son, who wants the reward money to set up a bookmaking business.

Psmith, the elegant socialist, is also after it for his newly married chum Mike. And on patrol with the impossible task of bringing management to Blandings is the Efficient Baxter, whose strivings for order lead to a memorable encounter with the castle flowerpots.

Will peace ever return to Blandings Castle...?

A wonderful story, with much witty repartee. A classic from the Wodehouse pen and a fun and lively work to listen to.

Very enjoyable. Others describe issues with audio, and it is true that in some parts it is a bit muffled like from a cassette tape. But with earphones I still understood everything. So highly recommended.

This is the most perfect Wodehouse I've read, my first time listening after reading three times. Wodehouse has such perfect rhythm and style, all the lines flow with beauty and elegance.

Cecil does all the main voices very well, some of the minor characters come in and out a bit but a very good effort on the whole. The editing could have been slightly better with some volume changes and lower quality sections.

Nevertheless it's an easy 5 stars on both counts for me.

One of the very best books I've ever read

A masterly rendition of a relaxing and beautifully crafted story during which I grew to know Blandings and the delightful characters and wished I could somehow live in their wonderful world
