Summary

Are you ready to program with Java in less than one week?

Have you always wanted to learn computer programming but you thought it is too difficult for you?

Or perhaps you know other programming languages but you are interested in learning the Java language quickly?

If the answer is Yes...then, this book is for you!

For one, Java is arguably the most acclaimed skill and is in demand nearly everywhere. IBM, Infosys, Twitter, Netflix, Google, Spotify, Uber, Amazon, Target, Yelp, Square, and other big players are always in need of a great Java programmer. Going by a pay scale website, an average Java developer earns about $70,000 annually. As a pro in the field, you have the entire globe to work over, as the demand is never restricted to a particular geographical area.

This book is the ultimate beginners’ crash course to Java programming, as it will help you learn enough about the language in as little as one week! Complex concepts are broken down into simple and easy steps to ensure that you can easily master the Java language even if you have never coded before.

Let me explain why this book is different...I think that the best way to learn Java (or any other skills) is by doing it. This book includes visual charts that you'll guide you and help you learn those specific codes that you want to learn really fast. And in this way, believe me that you'll have an immense sense of achievement and it’ll also help you retain the knowledge and master the language.

This book is for....

  • Those who are completely newbies with Java!
  • Those who have basic information of this programming language!
  • Those who already have the knowledge but perhaps they want to master it well!

The book is updated to the latest Java versions (eight and 10) and the main topics of what the book will be about include:

  • The fundamentals of Java
  • How to program the right way, cutting out the useless fluff!
  • Use arrays and classes for managing program data.
  • Write programs that use loops to perform repetitive tasks.
  • Design and write procedural programs that use methods.
  • Understanding Java Variables, Arrays, Loops, and Conditional Statements
  • Use if and switch statements to make decisions in your programs.
  • Learn the concept of Object Oriented Programming (from fundamentals to advanced)
  • How to understand and write simple Java programs
  • And much, much more!

Let’s begin our learning.

Easy to follow

This audible book does a really great job at breaking things down. I have always had a problem with numbers and letters combined together so two read troughs through anything basic having to do with programming is always necessary if not more. I believe just one more read through will be sufficient for this book. It is a really good beginner's book. I highly recommend.

reat for absolute Learn Java

Just the right read for first touch with Learn Java. Just this book isn’t enough to get you going, you’ll need to purchase next levels, but it is great for intro. He is ahead of everyone in his class as during his study halls he reads this book. He is quite pleased with it and wants to learn another programming language and we will definitely look at this publisher for that one too!

Worst audible book ever.

This is the worst narrator they could have possibly found. Constantly mispronouncing words, or using multiple pronunciations for the same word in the same sentence. Also talks like a robot with no flow or knowledge of the English language and sentence structure. I tried to get through it with a physical book in my hands as a companion and I couldn't get past 30 minutes, and I knew I should have stopped within 5 minutes. The book itself has enough errors and misspellings but this audible book is simply atrocious. DO NOT BUY THIS EVEN WITH CREDITS!!!

Great Introduction to Java

Great informative book, I've recommended this to several friends. Coming from .net with many of these features it is not difficult, but it is good to see how java does it, even if it was actually clearer to me in .net I actually learned more of a computer science perspective with this book in terms of the reason for streams and the meaning of terms such as predicate and why the functional interface exists as such. For this CS perspective I give the book five stars.

One of the best books on Java

I am almost half way through this book. Overall, this is a solid guide to all the new features of Java. Each concept is gently introduced and then discussed in detail. There are plenty of quizzes and practice problems along the way to really reinforce all the different ways you can use the powerful new functionality. Highly recommend this book.

Very Informative Java Book

By far the most useful book for Java programmers who wish to learn the new functional programming features of Java. The book conveys highly useful information in a very digestible step-by-step manner.Technical books could not get much better than this.

This has to be one of the best I have read

love this book! I've been using it to help me find good ways to refactor my Java code. It's written in a way that shows you step by step on how to transition from common ways of doing things in Java 7 to the Java 8 streams way. Even though some refactoring that makes code more terse can also make the code super difficult to read, the suggested changes from this book are incredibly easy to understand.

The best Java books

Great book if you need one with just the new features added to Java. One thing I love about Manning books is that once we buy a book, all the electronic versions of it for come for FREE, including the kindle version which I think is awesome as it provides further flexibility for reading the book and makes it easier to incorporate reading into our busy schedule.

Love this book

The author does not assume prior knowledge of Java Programming language. The book finishes off with the discussions on Java Class and examples. You have an Appendix with solution to exercises. This is a wonderful book. I recommend it to both newbies and programmers who wish to refresh and update their understanding of Java programming.
