Ma la crisi del '29 e la sconfitta di Carnera nel '34 segnano la fine del mito americano: benché amareggiato e insofferente verso il fascismo, torna allora in Italia, dove riesce a trasformare il paese d'origine in un avamposto di "nuovo mondo".
