Summary

Missy, la cadette des filles Mackenzie Allen Phillips, a été enlevée lors de vacances en famille. Certains éléments pouvant démontrer qu'elle a sans doute été victime d'un meurtre abject ont été trouvés dans une cabane abandonnée au fin fond d'une région sauvage de l'Oregon.

Quatre ans plus tard, en proie à son Grand Chagrin, Mack reçoit, apparemment de la part de Dieu, une invitation à se rendre à nouveau à cette cabane pour y passer un week-end. Au mépris du bon sens, Mack arrivera à la cabane par un après-midi d'hiver et réintégrera son pire cauchemar. Ce qu'il trouvera changera sa vie à jamais.

Dans ce monde où règnent d'indicibles souffrances, où donc est Dieu ? Les réponses qui seront révélées à Mack vous ébahiront et peut-être vous transformeront-elles autant qu'elles ont réussi à le métamorphoser.

Wonderful, inspiring and life-changing

It is a beautiful story which examines suffering, love and forgiveness. God's apparent silence in the face of life's tragedies is profoundly explored. I think this book will help any people fin d peace and faith. One section which did disappoint was when it has Jesus criticise organised religion. I think this is based on taking human frailties as an authentic representation of religion rather than a distortion of it. No society thrives better by removing organisation. I did listen to the book to improve my French and I recommend it for this reason too. It's aided by it being such a compelling and touching story.
