I couldn't get past the awful put-on voices for the male characters. would have been much better with just a straight read

Val is a Scottish author with significant parts of the book set in Scotland. Why could the narrator not take the time to find out how to pronounce words like 'bothy' and 'Kirkcaldy'. The narration was littered with these errors which distracted from what is a good book. Not Val's best - but still worth a listen.

Poor pronunciation spoiled this for me

For a book partially set in Scotland and by a Scottish writer you'd have thought the words
Bothy and Kirkcaldy and a few others might have been pronounced properly.
and do coppers still call suspects chummy? it seems a bit stale.

Imogen Church tho : confident, creative, hugely capable & engaging narration …narration as it should be!
