About this listen

When a young girl is found dead in the mountains outside Timber Creek, lifelong resident Officer Mattie Cobb and her partner, K-9 police dog Robo, are assigned to the case that has rocked the small Colorado town.

With the help of Cole Walker, a local veterinarian and single father, Mattie and Robo must track down the truth before it claims another victim. But the more Mattie investigates, the more she realizes how many secrets her town holds. And the key may be Cole's daughter, who knows more than she's saying. The murder was just the beginning, and if Mattie isn't careful, she and Robo could be next.

Suspenseful and smart, Killing Trail is an explosive debut that will have listeners clamoring for more Mattie and Robo for years to come.

this was such an enjoyable listen. the narration really worked but the story was the highlight.

off to investigate more by this author and narrator

unexpected pleasure

The wrong narrator was chosen for this. It’s a good book that kept me engaged but it was read in the way a child’s fairytale would be read. It lacked the feeling of suspense where needed because it was read so… “gently”

Wrong narrator

This is the first book and the series and the first by this author that I've read. I found it really engaging and was immediately drawn into the lives of Mattie Cobb and her police dog Robo. There is enough back story on how she became the handler, the fact that this is her first K-9 case to set the case in context but without overdoing the back story so that it drags down the pace of the book. The content is in one way mature that of a double murder, drug use and drug running but at the same time it is not overtly gory and manages to omit the large volume of swearing that can often creep into the detective fiction. The plot was believable and moved along at a good pace with a good smattering of red herrings to keep the reader guessing.
Will certainly be seeking out further instalments of the series.

I found the narrator Nancy Wu excellent and definitely added value to the listening experience

A must for fans of TVs Hudson & Rex

This tale of a young deputy and her dog is brilliant. I couldn't wait for my downtime to listen to each chapter!!! Will look for more by this author.
