In every industry, there are companies that take off. They effortlessly hire talented people, attract loyal customers, create cool products and make lots of money. These companies seem to stand out and scale up quickly with support from investors, partners and the media. Sadly, most companies don't perform this way. Most entrepreneurs aren't building anything of value. They work hard, make sacrifices, struggle, dream, plan and strive, but in the end, it doesn't pay off. This audiobook sets out a method for building a business that becomes a valuable asset.

Every marketer tells a story. And if they do it right, we believe them. We believe that wine tastes better in a $20 glass than a $1 glass. We believe that an $80,000 Porsche Cayenne is vastly superior to a $36,000 VW Touareg, which is virtually the same car. We believe that $225 Pumas will make our feet feel better, and look cooler, than $20 no-names... and believing it makes it true.

Undiluted snake oil
The author offers an easy 5 step plan to fortune and success. Everybody can do it. As a bonus, there is a hidden message in the book which he refers to often. In the epilogue he tells you to keep searching for the hidden message, which, if found, will turn you into a super productive successful key person of influence?
Does that sound too good to be true? That's because it is. He collects a bunch of personal experiences and platitudes, not hindered by any research, and simply claims over and over again that success will follow.
He probably means his own success. When he sends the snake oil to many people. I didn't learn anything from this book. The only good thing is that it was very short. So I didn't waste too much time on this.
My tip, read books from actual leaders or people who've actually done the research. Eg Jim Collins, Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, Eric Schmidt, Jocko Willink. Real insights from real leaders. Nuanced and humble. No simple 5 step plan to success. But the truth.

Full of banalities. Waste of time
This book had really good reviews so I downloaded it.
First of all, the narration was not good.
Secondly the content was full of banalities and really general knowledge. He spends a whole chapter self-congratulating himself by saying how this book will make you rich and the method is amazing. But there is no content - nothing!
Most of the advice he gives is really common sense things that everyone knows now. He recommends using social media and publishing content... Well, this is obvious. 16years old people know this without having to buy a book! So why bother with this book?
What a waste of time!!!!

There was the odd decent part but the opening chapters were the author repeating how he will make you a KPI. A theme repeated throughout. Too many claims to make you a KPI and not enough substance.

Rubbish:
Over simplistic, just nonsense. And the fact the author claims there's a 'hidden' meaning to the book! Yeah because Machiavelli, cook books, let's face it no manual for success should have anything hidden. This is a transparent ploy to make the reader think this junk is more impressive than it is. AVOID this nonsense. If you haven't been unconscious for the last twenty years you've already passed this one. It is truly awful and truly rubbish. You have been warned!

Overall nothing special
The first hour is pretty dull and uninformative - basically the world is changing and you need to as well.
It gets slightly better when talking through the 5Ps. Some ok tips for how to run and grow a small business from the point of view of marketing.
My main comment is that it mostly focuses on the marketing aspects of running a small business rather than the art and science of building up an industry profile.

Decent read
Top takeaways:
You're thinking from five years ago has become your baggage of today. You must continue to expand and grow consciously.
How can you become MORE VALUABLE TO OTHERS?
No longer can you give the general pitch.
MUST BE MICRO NICHE AS PEOPLE BUY FROM ALL OVER NOW.
