Joanna667, a.k.a. Jehanne la Pucelle (Joan the Maid) is a sixteen-year-old girl, chosen by the six new gods. She is warned of a subsequent ripple from removing Charles VII a human candidate from the election ballot. With the gods' guidance, Jehanne embraces her new role and gathers supporters to save the planet from the entities – ultimately, commencing a movement for change. Will the Maid stand against the all-powerful One World Caste System and the Techno-Pagan church? Can she defy the injustices by the corrupt sentients and entities? Will she meet a fiery demise by the hands of the church?
Joanna667 is a unique and refreshing tale. From the very beginning, the parallels between Joanna66 and Joan of Arc are evident. The sci-fi elements (machines vs. men) and the futuristic setting of the plot were written well. I found certain elements to be thought-provoking. JW Scott is a wonderful story-teller; his characters are well-developed and distinctive. His writing was clear and well-paced. I appreciated the clever way he incorporated historical aspects and mythology into a futuristic dystopian society.
If you're looking for something different kind of sci-fi, Joanna667 is a great choice. It was captivating with great characters and good narration.
