Story
The boys at Linbury Court Preparatory School are eager to speed up the progress of space travel, and none more so than Jennings, whose first task is to find a suitable helmet. But is it really a good idea to take a dome-shaped glass-case, which previously housed a stuffed woodpecker, and place it over his head? Petrified paintpots! Jennings and Darbishire's luck is in when they hitch a ride with an international cricketer, and could it be that they've done something right for once when they attempt to apprehend a suspected burglar? Bat-witted clodpoll!

"Hah-ooh cinosrepus! ‘Selbanev, Nosnikta, Senoj-Nitram,’ said Jennings. ‘They’re the names of people, I bet you can’t guess who!’ ‘Russian agents? - Zulu tribesmen? - Ancient kings of Egypt?’ hazarded Darbishire. ‘No, no, no,’ Jennings flipped his fingers in delight and danced ungainly ballet steps round the tuck-boxes. ‘Oh, wacko! Story
A second wonderful collection of Just William stories, selected and read by Martin Jarvis. Richmal Crompton’s stories featuring irrepressible schoolboy William Brown have been firm favourites with both young and old for decades. Perpetually scruffy, mud-stained and mischievous, he is a lovable scamp whose pranks usually end in disaster - for his harassed elders at least. With friends Ginger, Douglas and Henry (the Outlaws) and the angelic thorn in his side, the lisping Violet Elizabeth Bott, William has rightly joined the literary and radio immortals.

Helped - and hampered - by his diligent Permanent Secretary Sir Humphrey Appleby (Nigel Hawthorne) and his Principle Private Secretary Bernard Woolley (Derek Fowlds), Hacker and his department became synonymous with government bureaucracy and administrative double dealing.

Summary
Jennings, As Usual is one of a series of 25 books by Anthony Buckeridge. The Jennings stories originated in a series of radio plays for the BBC’s Children’s Hour, which proved so popular they spawned this delightful series of books. The tales make liberal use of Buckeridge's inventive schoolboy slang ("fossilised fish hooks!," "crystallised cheesecakes!," and others). Published between 1950 and 1989, these books were favorites among a vast assortment of kids all over the world. Jennings Goes to School and Jennings Again! were adapted for radio by Anthony Buckeridge and read by Stephen Fry, and Mark Williams (Aurthor Weasley in the Harry Potter films), recorded an abridged version of Jennings Little Hut, all produced by the BBC. Loved by kids and adults alike, the Jennings books were translated into several languages and have sold over six million worldwide. Described as “Harry Potter without magic, but funnier,” and “P.G. Wodehouse for kids,” you’ll want to check out the other titles in this series available from Post Hypnotic Press.
